Yeah how powerful are they. I know that they say they can control armies, and snap titans in half.
But what if they are on a planet and unaware of their powers could they accidentally kill i don't know know half a continent?
Would space marines be vulnerable to the Alpha Pysker even if they had Caldexus Assassins with them?
This would help my story immensely.
So far it is planned that a Space Marine Strike Force. (Basically deathwatch) is teamed up with a Assassin group and an Inqusitior to hunt down an Alpha (Might be Plus) Pysker that was ordained to be born 30 years ago. And they arrive on the planet and They kinda are facing Pyschic puppets once they find the person who possesses the 'taint'. I think its exiciting to do it.
Thanks ahead of time.

Culexus Assassins are the pure anathema to any psyker, so I'm guessing even an Alpha Psyker would be severely weakened by one. The only in-depth mention of any Alphas I've come across is in the Gaunt's Ghost novels. Two are used by Pater Sin, in the form of small children, yet they are able to control minds, alter perceptions to make them near invisible, and are easily a match for the characters in the novel. In regards to your story, I like the concept, but I do see a couple of changes that could be made.

1: No way would an Alpha Psyker be allowed to run free for 30 years without being hunted down by the DW.

2: Deathwatch are more suited to hunting Xenos, not Psykers. It would be more fitting for Grey Knights to take this role instead.

Heres your answer to Grey Knights.
No.
The Wanderers are capable enough to do it. I would like to advance them more than I would to give the Grey Knights the Overall title to them.

Plus they the Grey Knights are used all the time. Let a run of the mill Wanderers force track the Pysker.
Plus I agree with the 30 years thing. He/she is either really good at hiding, or they can't find him and some people could of just discounted the prophet. (Which is known to happen in the 40k universe.)

The witch hunters are primarily the dealers with psykers.

Gray hunters only really get involved if they are dealing with daemons heavily enough that they are being summoned in heavy numbers.

I just thought of an idea for the story I could make this into an RP. But I don't think people would come on in for the project knowing my luck.

The witch hunters are primarily the dealers with psykers.

Gray hunters only really get involved if they are dealing with daemons heavily enough that they are being summoned in heavy numbers.

Gray Hunters?

And Witch hunters would go in, but the Wanderers kinda had a pact and heard of a few secrets and some lost ones that they have that are in the area. For the Wanderers its easy to explain why they are there.

Typo I think. Was meant to be GK.
Who are these wanderers you keep speaking of?

Deathwatch are anti-xeno, GK are anti-demon. Neither have anything to do with psykers, unless the psyker was a xeno or a demon summoner.

Now what the ordo hereticus could do is requisition a space marine or few to help them out.

They are a DIY Space Marine Chapter. very much the Human Like Astartes but less the mary sues of the Crusaders. (They are Astartes formerly known as the Knight's Legion.

I have no talent with writing about them hence why I suggested this could be turned into a RP on this website.

Of course.
But he did specify SM.
SoB would be better though. Needs to be more stuff on them imo.

Yeah I mean the Gray Knights.

Sisters of Battle are the army of the church, they are requisitioned often enough by the witch hunters that they are sometimes counted as them, if only because the goals often match up enough.

If your looking for sisters of battle stuff, there's plenty of stuff with them in the FFG books. All the chapters like the Sisters Hospitali and the like.

I agree that they would be better suited but considering there are so few Sisters of Battle around anyway. I thought I would take an Astartes Army that hunts extremely high valued targets.

Agreed.
If I could make this an RP that would be fanastic to have the space marines and SoB and the Inqusition hunting the Alpha Pysker.

Would be a cool idea.

An Alpha Plus could potentially cause continental-level destruction yes. They are obscenely powerful, which is why the Inquisition tries to destroy them on sight.

Would space marines be vulnerable to the Alpha Pysker even if they had Caldexus Assassins with them?

The more psychic you are, the more vulnerable you are to a Culexus. Like any kind of psychic creature, they would be decimated by these assassins (in fluff anyway).

believe in the eisenhorn novels it mentions alot about alpha psykers. and Blunts are pure anathema as in the abilities do not work on them period. with in a certain range.(not to say they could not animate a stone and still throw it at them but you get my point.)

3000

on the other hand Nobz they decided it was in the best interest of ork society that they "Go Green" as such they specifically modified their warbikes to not make giant smoke, dust, grit, clouds. Instead they are all about driving with clean air, one might say their bikes Gak out rainbows.

It's like The_Godlyness says, a psyker cannot use their powers directly against a Blank. However there is more than one way to skin a cat. A pyrokinetic could ignite the area around it, a psychokinetic could drop a building on it, a telepath could persuade others to kill it.

I was trying to write some background fluff about an Inquisitor who was hiding the fact he was a Alpha level psyker, only revealing it in combat against a sorcerer of Tzeentch. After annihilating the sorcerer he uses his powers to injure himself, breaking bones in non-vital places, in order to convince his fellows the fight was a struggle for him.

What's easier?
Letting an Alpha psyker devastate an entire continent or lancing him from orbit then dropping down and making sure it died?
I know which one i'd choose...

Not to mention what'd happen if said Alpha+ psyker gets possessed because he/she is untrained!

Wasn't going to have him possessed. Plus That ruins a good story in the making O.o. If you want me to ruin what i was planning on doing. Because they don't know where he is exactly. Plus I have a few good reasons why they can't just precision strike his ass. I might make that the way the alpha dies though lol.

Alas I need money to do so. So I have to go by what Lexi has said.

And plus to purplefood. Good luck finding someone who they are currently trying to find. Knowing the Imperial System it is extremely hard to find one person in a hive city. And no an entire continent will not be wiped out.
