Heavy Support
-Devastator Squad 230 (9 Marines, 1 Sgt. 4 TL Multi-Meltas) Rhino 35

I've got two other HQ choices that are the same point cost as the Master of the Forge, Chaplain w/ Jump pack 115, and Librarian w/ Null Zone and Gate of Infinity, Plasma Pistol 115. I freely exchange them depending on the terrain and what army I'm facing. Also sometimes the Sternguard's Drop Pod drops the Dreadnaught, just depends on what I feel like. I've only run this list in it's entirety once, and it performed fairly well but comments and constructive criticism are always helpful. Have at it dakkanauts!

I'm going to assume that this list is perfect, since no one can think of a single bad thing to say about it...

It's hard to get comments about vanilla marine lists on Dakka I don't know why but that's just the case.

Ok so the assault marines are a huge point sink and they are kind of terrible. The devastators also are no good. Get rid of them both to take some th/ss terminators and a landraider redeemer. Put Vulkan with the, and now you have a death star.

Take the librarian instead of the master of the forge, the hood alone is worth it.

Take this with a grain of salt -- I'm a modeler and not really a player. Still, I've poured over the Vanilla Codex quite a bit.

I'm not sure I understand the Devastator Squad with Multimeltas. I understand that they get the twin-linked benefit from Vulcan, but they can't movie and shoot in the same turn. Are they effective for you? It seems like a poor choice in my limited knowledge of the game. If it works for you, I'd love to hear details on how you use them.

He'stan without Assault Terminators?

Flamers and Multi Meltas are not compatible. If you shoot at a tank, the flamer is worthless. If you are using the flamer, you either moved, and the MM is useless, or you off one guy. And then you are going to get charged next turn, since you where in flamer range.

Tactical Squads need rides.

Scouts are meh. YMMV, of course, but with 10, you'll hit 5 times, wound 2.5, and, say, against Space Marines, you'll cause 0-1 wounds. :(

Venerable Dreadnoughts are an extra boat load of points for a BS/WS 5 and the option to make the opponent reroll. Meh. Normal dread and save points.

The master of the forge is pointless if you aren't using him to get Heavy Support Dreads. Sure, the servo harness is nice, but...

Having only one squad drop pod in means that either A: they are suiciding or B: they are going to be stuck without a ride for the rest of the game.

Land Speeders with Multi Meltas should probably have a Heavy Flamer to go with it. And hey, it's twin linked!

I'm not a fan of Assault Squads. I'd take more Land Speeder and put the 160pts you save in something like Rhinos. I'd also use the Librarian all the time, without the pistol, with the Sternguard, for maximum awesome. Especially if you are deadset in dropping them in; they fire off their meltas into a tank, then next turn portal out to a safe location.

Predator is fine. Generally people go Autocannon/Lascannons if they want the lascannons, but the other way works too.

Heres a Vulkan list I'd run using some of the same units you have -
Spoiler:

HQ
Vulkan He'Stan

Elites:
Sternguard - 10, 3 combi-meltas, SGT w/ Melta Bomb, Rhino - 300pts

Dreadnought - multimelta, DCCW w/ Heavy Flamer - 115pts

Assault Terminators - 5x Hammer/Shield Termies, Land Raider Redeemer w/ Multi Melta - 450pts

Troops

Tactical Squad - 10, Melta Gun, Multi Melta, Rhino - 210pts

Tactical Squad - 10, Melta Gun, Multi Melta, Rhino - 210pts

Fast Attack:

Land Speeder - MM + HF - 70pts

Land Speeder - MM + HF - 70pts

Land Speeder - MM + HF - 70pts

Heavy Support -

Devastators - 5, Lascannonx2, Multi Meltax2, Rhino - 225

Predator - Autocannon, Heavy Bolters - 85

2000pts on the nose.

The reason I gave Devastators 2x Lascannons is to give your army some ranged firepower, if you figure it's wise to hang back. They can hang out from turn one and fire their lascannons out the back of the Rhino, meaning they can't be shot until their vehicle gets it. You can also leave it the squad in cover and use the Rhino as a shield for your landspeeders on the first turn or two.

Just something to think about.

My scouts are more designed to grab objectives than they are to kill things. With their camo cloaks, and the Master of the Forge's Bolster Defenses, a single ruin on the table can give them an effective 2+ cover, making them very difficult to shoot off any objective they're on. I've run them this way in several games, and the only thing that's ever killed them is a charge by 8 bases of scarabs, and that still took 3 turns for the scarabs to kill them all. I've also run the Librarian with the Sternguard before and it's certainly very effective, I'll probably end up running the list this way and giving that drop pod to the Dreadnaught. As far as terminators go I'm definitely getting some, but I was planning on putting them in a 2500 point list for 2v2 Apocalypse games. I've got a buddy who has a serious Space Wolf Wolfguard Deathstar list, we were going to team for for 5k Apoc games. I'll try the terminators when I get them and we'll see what happens!
