I am debating over my self
Get more tau or start an eldar army.

My tau battleforce is just waiting for me at the store to be picked up, but i found my old guardians from 2007.
I used the Iyanden colour scheme as it strikes me and with the fluff of Prince Yriel. So i then asked them to reserve a few eldar stuff in the store.

Now I have all my money now (mom borrowed some) I just can't decide. Get another BF for the tau or get started on some eldar?
For those folks who will say, start with the army you have now (tau) blah blah blah, Tau are pretty much nerfed imho. Just waiting on the new dex if i should get more or sell. As for eldar, I just love them in game (DOW). Banshee spam and etc. Also, for the fact my flgs has alot of eldar in stock. Most aspects are still in metal (thankfully) but I aint afraid of finecast too.

Suggestions,opinions,objections

Eldar is awesome. Tau is not as awesome.

Eldar. My very non-biased viewpoint.

Hmmm? Oh I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you over the screams of your Elves dying from Fire Warrior's strength 5 Pulse Carbines.

If you like girl-ish figures, space fairy dust, mind bullets, and men with the bones of birds, the Eldar is for you.

If you want high strength, long ranged badassedry, where you can take the most devastating anti-tank weapon in the game, the Tau is for you.

My very non-biased viewpoint.

By the sounds of the OP you're more interested in Eldar than Tau.

The main difference between the two is the Eldar can see danger coming and their vehicles are faster. Also they don't fold in melee like wet cardboard, at least most of the time.

Argh, I actually love the 2. I just started playing as eldar in DOW for a month and I just love banshees....
As on tau, I just pop rhino's on the first turn! 2 imoblilised shots and its a wreck woot!
I'll ask what my friends at the flgs. I am also leaning more toward tau as I am an anime lover and the tau are just so similar..... Plus, I would be the only player who has a single tau model.

In that case, do Tau for the uniqueness.

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space.

Eldar are just as much so as the Tau though.

I guess take what you like and dislike of the two and compare to see which you like the best if you really have to choose one of the two.

Im going tau on this. The uniqueness of it all really. Most guys at the flgs are marines and I would just be one of the "marines". Then I would be known as the "Tau guy" haha.
Although, our store does not sell any crisis suits :(. Just broadsides, piranhas,FW, and a feth load of battleforces. And Eldar have soooo much in stock.

Aside from that, we have a veteran daemon player who just kicked some Eldar arse. By turn 6 only 2 out of 12 of the eldar's units were alive. Eldrad,a wraithlord and Avatar were fighting a daemon prince,a blood thirster and a full squad of blood crushers. They fought from turn 2 until 6.
Eldar won by number of controlled objs.

I'm going tau because all those demons have absolutely NO shooting attacks. I'll kill them from there and hope I dont get stuck in CC. hehe

Eldar are a close ranged shooting army while Tau are a mobile (for the most part) long ranged shooting army. Eldar rely on volume of fire while Tau rely on hard shots. Eldar absolutely must synergize with their psychers which means getting psychic hoods close to your models is a bad thing while Tau rely heavily on their markerlights.

Beyond that, it's aesthetics. Both have sleek curved surfaces for their vehicles, but Tau body-armour is more bulky. Due to the generally bulkier armour, Tau are easier to do combat damage on.

Both codexes are out of date. Eldar is likely to get updated early 2013, Tau within a couple of months prior or after that. The current tournament meta favor Tau of the two since Grey Knights are so dominant, oddly enough.

You seem to be describing elves from a different universe. Eldar are based on Tolkien Elves (sort of, roughly), which can shortly be described as the perfect 1941 ubermensch.

Also, bones of birds would be Kroot.

P.S. Writing reply at work sucks, it takes such a long time that the thread is over before you hit "Post"

Horrors can shoot and they deep strike in so you still need to be careful anyway.

I've seen the daemon players army. It's a total khornate nightmare I say! He uses daemonettes too but I am not sure on their stats as he usually goes all khorne or nurgle on bigger games.

Oh I'm sorry, I wouldn't hear you over the screams of Fire Warriors as they get slaughtered by sneaky Striking Scorpions, and the explosions of Crisis Suits as Fire Dragons take out their anger on them.

I prefer Eldar to Tau, and while I don't play Tau myself, many of my friends do. They're very different yet very similar at the same time. They can both be very shooty armies, though Eldar have a little more diversity than the Tau in terms of some deadly close combat troops (Banshees, Harlequins, and depending on what you fight, Striking scorpions). I prefer the Eldar to the Tau because I prefer the play style of having different components of your army working closely together to support each other over the Tau's more "try and shoot them all before they get close" tactics.

As to what you should choose, I'd say go with the one that calls to you most. According to the latest rumours (which may or may not be true) neither army is looking at an update this year, so I wouldn't buy based on that.
