Was playing around with Webway Portal lists and an interesting situation was brought up. If Coteaz and a unit camp within 12" of a WWP and Harlies with a Shadowseer come out first what happens?
Do Coteaz and friends have to test for VoT?
If he fails VoT does this stop him from taking further IBEY shots? (VoT states the unit may not fire that turn if failed)
Relavent Rules:
I've Been Expecting You wrote:If an enemy unit arrives from reserve within X" of Coteaz and within his line of sight, Coteaz and his unit can immediately make an out-of-sequence shooting attack against it. There is no limit on how many times the ability can be used in a turn.
Veil of Tears wrote:...Any enemy unit wishing to target the Shadowseer or the unit she is with must roll X. This is their spotting distance in inches. If the models are not within spotting range, they may not fire that turn.

Seeing as how Coteaz and his friends are shooting at the Harlies, (even if out of phase) then they must roll for Veil. if they fail, they will be unable to shoot in the shooting phase as well.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I think VoT is more specific because cannot is stronger than may. At first I was thinking Veil was like night fighting, because it said spotting distance, but it is more specific because barrage weapons cannot fire at them either.

The thing thing about any discussion concerning why orks did something usually ends with because they are orks, and noone seems to argue, or offer further questioning.

seems pretty open and shut to me:
1) coteaz and crew roll distance
2) if in range they shoot
3) out of range, they can no longer make out of sequence shots
4) they may still fire in their turn (as VoT says rest of turn, not rest of shooting phase, or anything else)

Forgot IBEY was in the other player's turn. Of course that doesn't change what I said, as they still cannot fire in that [player's] shooting phase anyway. BewareOfTom, summed it up well enough.

well, it happens in the movement phase basically, as I dont know any reserves thing that happens afterwards, so rest of opponents turn they cant fire
EDIT: pretty good chance of success though, only need 3 or more on each die
