Hello all of Dakka, I have something to ask of you. I am starting a Carcharodon army after my dropping of Tau. Now the Carcharodons have a lot of old armor in their force and I mean a lot. Now as we all know FW is very expensive. So my question was should I go all forge world kits, half and half FW and GW or just say screw it and go all new style armor. Thanks to any replies and suggestions.

well GW is offering the old suits in one set, you could buy several of them and build you a decent force. I would use the MkVIII Errant armor as sergeants orther leader models. Or do the reverse, give your sergeants and leaders the old armor.....

Hmmm...it might end up being more expensive but thanks for helping. Anyone else have anything?

Don't get those, the sculpts are way tiny compared to the current model sizes.

I'm also starting up Carcharodons and I bit the bullet and went with some FW models of the Mk V and Mk IV as they are my favorites. I also got a set of older bolters too, just waiting on delivery now.

Way I see it is these, and the scattering of Mk VI Corvus I already have from bits here and there will allow me to represent the older armor well enough that I can scatter them in and make about 30-40 Marines out of these and what I have.

Spendy for sure and I had to save my pennies to do it.

Sunds like a good plan Bloodwulf. I will do that. I'm also writing fluff for them since close to none exists, and it will include why they have some newer armor.

I've been looking into doing a detachment of Carcharodons along with my IG force as well. Something that I've been considering to side step the Forge World issue is to use some Chaos bits. Most of the Chaos legs look like they are Mk V, most of the torsos look pretty usable, plus their weapons look ancient as well. The Chaos helmets are also pretty good, but they are extremely chaotic looking. The legs are usually just a few seconds with a hobby knife and a nail file away from being ancient armor rather than Chaos armor. Find a friend who plays Chaos or get on a bitz site.

It's an ugly planet. A bug planet.
