From Eric: Today's Flames of War Statistics article is a relatively straightforward one and it deals with Artillery Template Weapon Systems. I had originally drawn up some work related to both Artillery and Airplane weapons in V2, but since probabilities for air planes got so much easier (read: 1 chance to range in), I added several more options for basic Artillery

nice work Jon, as an Ex Navy Gunner, got to love the NGFS 34.98%..... NASTY!

Plan on using it on a Commando Force, probably a D-Day commando's force.

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

That is really telling. Especially when you are considering wanting your artillery to do something wrestling with 3 stands of heavy or 4 stands of medium. Just the difference between effectiveness of 10.5 to 15cm german stuff.

Plus in compairing basic 8cm mortars vs Nebs at basically the same points costs. Sure there are intangibles to consider, but in effectiveness, its really a no brainer.

This is against armoured targets, hardly the target of choice for a mortar, and the mortar has the advantage of a range in re-roll and no smoke trails. Its not really that much of a 'no brainer'. Its interesting that heavy mortars are actually more effecitve than 10.5s.

How about doing the same thing for infantry targets

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.
