Evidently there was another one. Interesting that the agencies are much more hush hush on this one. I'm thinking this attempt actually knew what it was doing. Kudoes to them for finding this.

Obama adviser: Cooperation led to bomb intercept

By ADAM GOLDMAN and MATT APUZZO
Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama's counterterrorism adviser says the discovery of a new plot to take down a U.S.-bound airliner shows the al-Qaida organization remains a threat a year after Osama bin Laden's killing.

John Brennan tells network morning news shows the discovery of another bomb designed to be worn in the attacker's underwear resulted from "very close cooperation with our international partners."

The Associated Press on Monday reported the CIA intercept of a bomb device, citing government officials. Brennan made appearances Tuesday morning on NBC's "Today" show, ABC's "Good Morning America" and "CBS This Morning."

On NBC, he said the "device and the bomber that would use it is no longer a threat."

The device currently is being analyzed by the FBI, and Brennan said that al-Qaida remains very active in Yemen although it has been "degraded" in Pakistan.

It's only a matter of time before terrorists develop thong bombs.

Stopped the way it should have been: using good old intelligence and detective work.

It's not that I want my junk handled by the TSA, it's that I NEED my junk handled by the TSA. For my own safety, of course.

The day a man can't go around in polite society in scuba gear, a jugnle cat print thong, and a pink tutu is the day the Terrorists have finally won.

I finally went through the Running Man Sniff o Matic yesterday. Seriously? After the time I had on the return trip I would have welcomed a terrorist getting uppity.

I wouldn't even mind effective airport security. But the vast majority of what the TSA is currently doing is just for show and doesn't have any effect at all.

Why bother blowing up a plane with maybe 200 people in it, if I can just detonate my IED sweater in the security line, bunched up next to 500 other people.

The puffers that were paid for sit in storage, because they don't work. And it has already been shown that the fancy body-scanners can easily be fooled and that they miss stuff that a traditional metal detector would have caught.

Just not a fan of "security theater".

Don't get me started on how air marshals have yet to stop a single terrorist attack in mid-air.

Good point. They should put additional scanners at the airport entrances so as to catch the IED sweaters before they get to the security lines.

I'm sceptical about the timing of this, and given the track record of the security agencies, I'm reluctant to believe a word of this.
