Hi Members,
Ten years or so ago my son ( grammar school) wanted to start a Kroot army and I bought him a bunch of models. Now ( he's finishing college and has no interest) after sitting in his closet for years I'm getting ready to put them on eBay. So I'm doing an inventory and I see there are 12 Kroot Carnivore with WFB Harpies' wings!! Also there are 6 Kroot Carnivore guys mounted on Lizardmen/Dark elf Cold ones!!
So I go to my Army Builder 3 software and see that Kroot are no longer a stand-alone army. Also there is no way to give Kroot Carnivores wings or mount them on Cold Ones!!

Any anyone shed some light on what happened?

Thanks Sandy Death

Kroot as a stand alonearmy appeared as a Chapter Approved in one of the old White Dwarf magazines (a long time ago since I still picked up WD when it appeared)

To my knowledge that is now out dated and isnt looking to be replaced, whilst there is a slim chance you might see alternative kroot in a new Tau codex when it comes out the chances are fairly slim.

As such you've got some conversions on your hands but to my knowledge not a legal 40K army atm.

Soon his foes would learn that the only thing more dangerous than a savage three hundred pound brute is a savage three hundred pound brute with a plan - Ork Codex

1-2 months after the release of the first Tau Codex, there was a Kroot mercenary list in the WD (official but hardly competitive):

The community of Kroot fans extended this to a full, playable "Kodex Kroot" which in its current edition looks like this:

The closest to a current official list is this Apocalypse datasheet which also includes vultures and riders:
