I haven't played it yet, but I'm pretty anxious to try it. I've tooled around with scythe lists before, but I don't usually get to play games big enough to really field a lot of scythes, but I've convinced some pals to play more 1500 so we shall soon see. The major point of divergence is obviously the lack of true MSU units for scythe unlocking and the larger emphasis on court shots and upgrades. I felt like in a number of point levels, scythe spam had difficulties with keeping scoring units around, and really concentrating fire without exposing too many fragile and similar pieces in particular areas. Too, the more I played with large immortal squads, I was finding they have a very similar kill per turn/point as a 100 point destructor, but they bring a different set of skills and weaknesses to the table than a scythe does, or even a little squad of immortals or warriors do. The current configuration of warriors/immortals/crypteks were to clean up point values and because I am a sucker for defensive grenades and utility. Maybe I'm just a regular old sucker, because it's costly stuff. I also really don't like how fearful and static you ended up sometimes with your guys on the ground (who tend to stay on the ground) in more traditional scythe lists. Those immortals and warriors might not be in their rides too long (or in some cases, ever), but I'd like at least the chance to take advantage of the mobility and getting aggressive with necron troop unit's generous effective shooting range and relatively sturdy frame in mid ranged cover battles. All the parts are working for you though, and give each other tools to protect themselves. If anyone has any experience in this or thoughts I'd be really happy to learn something. I'm also really hoping to find a way to do away with warriors in this list all together, but that seems sort of unreasonable. And by all means, tell me how I'm doing it wrong before I start frustrating myself on the table! This might also be one of the rare instances that a person should consider running Gauss Blasters! Help a noob out! As an aside, I've really fallen in love with the doomscythe, I really hope the model doesn't neuter it. The CCB is better, and has so many cute tricks, but feeling like you have 4-5 barge-like units running at your opponent behind the screen of a turbo boosted empty nightscythe feels really good. you'll find a lot of people just aren't comfortable with those circumstances yet either.
