Hi, so I've just bought online the last items I needed to complete my Protectorate of Menoth Army at Warmachine, and I intend next month to start W40k seriously. So I considered to go Vanilla Marines and to start at 1000 pts. I'm seeking to start without having to spend to much money, but still be able to be competitive (or at least semi-competitive). Also, I kinda dislike the whole Rhino/Razro spam. I've considered the Blood Angels because of this, but still, I've found them too cheesy (and OP).I have also considered to go Dark Angels Deathwing or Ravenwing, but terminators cost much these days. Do anyone has some advices on a build or example of list that could suits my needs, financial capacities and preferances ?

Well gk do footslogging pretty well with deep strike lists. If you think BA are overpowered I'm sure you think GK are too.

How do you feel about bikes? It's definitely an army build you can have with very few vehicles. It is a pretty good army not top tier but pretty good.

On a side note the competitve way to play BA is with transports but that doesn't mean you can't footslog. I would go with DA cause the other chapters have a tendency of using rhinos. I don't think it should be too expensive either

Hello!
Welcome to the ranks!!

The vanilla marines codex is perhaps the most versatile codex of the marine armies and offers very different and fun builds.
It does not encourage rhino/razor spam (like blood angels or space wolves do who can field 4-5) but you will need one for each tactical squad you take (1-2 at your point level).

That being said, arguably the best units for each slot are

Librarian
sternguard, assault termies and dreadnoughts
tacticals
land speeders and attack bikes
predators, vindicators and thunderfire cannons

Most imporant, keep in mind that vanilla marines are a shooting army at the core
