Hi folks, I'm starting a new army (assorted groans). Nothing to show yet, but the idea is based off of Jurrassic Park, or Salamanders with a slight twist.
I'm using the Space Wolves codex (this is non-negotiable) and have already got 2 grey hunter squads (utahraptors, oviraptors) and 1 wolf guard squad (velociraptors) pictures are coming soon.
Now I HATE TRANSFERS! So I won't be using them, but I'm too lazy to do freehand on bog-standard troops, so I've decided not to use a chapter symbol, but to paint SCALES onto both shoulder pads (left green, right red) I'll upload the pictures soon, but until then, let me know what you think of the idea.

Do you know what your sin is, Malcolm Reynolds?
Ah hell, I'm a fan of all seven.
But right now, I'm gonna have to go with wrath.

At last I have found my camera, spruced up my models; it's exposition time. Just so you know, I've had very little experience with freehand befoe, and I am painting these to TABLETOP STANDARD. Thanks for listening.

I don't mean to stop you in any way and I think your new army looks nice, I just wanted to let you know there is already a Raptors chapter. They are actually pretty awesome.

Keep up the good work!

And some, I assume, are good people."

I know you said it's based off of Jurassic Park's Velociraptors but also that the ones you saw in the movie do not look like the dinosaurs actually did. The real dinosaurs had feathers and were much much smaller.

Also you need to work with your camera to make sure it's in focus and if possible bump up the quality of the pics so we know what we're looking at!

If your camera has a Macro setting try to use that. that will allow you to make some really nice closeups.

And leaving the issue aside that the Raptors chapter already exists i think your models are really nicely painted!
Im loving the scales on both shoulders and i think that even if they use spacewolfs rules, they are a fine salamander successor chapter (that was the idea right)
Getting back on the name of the chapter. maybe you can keep the raptor suffix to the squadnames, but name the chapter Hellbender Chapter.
a hellbender is a very large salamander.

Or you could go with something like drakes or wolfdrakes

anyway, painting is good, fluff is nice, but somewhere it needs a workaround for the name

Thanks for your comments, and I'm really sorry about the camera. I had the macros setting ON, I had it to the best settings my camera has. If you look at the other stuff in my gallery then you'll see that these are the best quality photos I can offer with this ing camera. Also, @Dijnsk how about Drakeslayers?

@Drakeslayer: Macro settings have a minimum focus distance. You can be TOO close, just as you can be too far away.
Also, are you hand-holding the camera (this alone accounts for 80% of all fuzziness in photos). Try setting it onto something stable and pressing the shutter button instead of holding it.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.
