wanting to know if it's worth getting or not. I like the ideas of potential new units and equipment, but i have no cloe what it has inside. I never opened one up to look at it, and my moral standing wont let me download a pdf. I did look at the bells of lost souls thing ( http://lski.org/pictures/TableTopGaming/GW/40k/BellofLostSouls/badab-war-v1-0.pdf) but Idk if its legit.
Is there any units that are kinda good? is the fluff okay? What is there to expect?
Thanks!

The BoLS book is fanmade stuff. The Badab War books from Forge World (IA9 and 10) are their best books IMHO.
You can hear a great review of the books on the Independent Characters podcasts. I bought them after listening to their review. The campaign rules in IA9 are what my current group follows for the previous and current campaign. Much better than the Planetary Empires campaign rules.

I have both books. If you play space marines and want a plethora of Special Characters to fiddle around with, or 2 new army lists which are different and quite fun...then these are for you.

Oh, in that case, can you send me a link to the podcast please? I would like to see more army lists in the future.

So, are they at all very competitive and game changing? I would like more variety, especially new commanders.

It's like an odd mix of Space marines and IG for the Astral claws.
You can actually make a very effective foot list with the guard squads with space marines behind, as they give better cover saves at the cost of the IG lives.

Space marine Siege List
Astral claws (Lead by Huron the Tyrant, aka the now leader of the Red Corsairs)
It's even more romanesque than the Ultramarines, with IG serving the role as frontal guard, with space marines making up the elite.

The characters are all designed to be fluffy and range from very competative (guy give Tank Hunters and extra armour to the army) to meh (TL Flamer weapons)

Can you please fix your title? The subject is the books-therefore, your title should be "Are the Badab War books any good?" If you had titled it "Is the Badab War a good read," then you'd be fine. It just hurts the eyes a bit. I wouldn't say anything if you were from another country, but from America...you should know.
And I'm curious about the Badab War too-it seems interesting to see Lugft Huron go rogue.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.
