Hey everyone. This summer two of my buddies and I are going to be started up a Deathwatch campaign (I will be the GM). I made up two characters to include in their squad which they can play, roll for, make decisions etc, but I created (with so few people the squad dynamics would be weird without a few other characters added). These are just the models that we will be using to represent the characters throughout the campaign. I may post a few of my friends models as they are completed as well.

Keep in mind that these are mostly assembled from spare/left over parts and may be a bit rough at the moment. Hopefully a good paint job will bring them to life. The shoulder pads and helmets are from a sprue (given to me by my buddy) that includes Deathwatch add-ons etc.

First up is Brother Lessus, a devastator marine of the Imperial Fists. He used to be an old 3.5 edition metal devastator marine who was painted like rubbish (when I was young) and was simple greened. Hence the weird metal color. I tidied up some o the mold lines and scraped away the paint as best as my patience would allow.

Next is Caldus, a tactical marine of the Blood Ravens chapter. He is made up of many many many spare parts from lots of kits. I am particularly fond of the pose and knife, which is a souvenir tyranid-talon combat knife which he uses in lieu of his standard combat knife. (I have minor special rules for it). In the character's back story he was part of the Aurelian crusade (from Dawn of War II) and fought tyranids there. As such, he fashioned the knife and has a deep hatred and understanding of the tyranid xenos. Let me know what you think!

To sum up, Caldus is made up of the following parts
Base: 3.5 ed tactical marine
Legs: 4th ed assault marine
Torso: two extra SM tactical pieces of unknown origin
Arms: Extra 4th ed assault marine pieces
Shoulder: Spare 4th ed tactical marine
Shoulder: Deathwatch sprue
Gun: Deathwatch sprue
Backpack: unknown
Head: Deathwatch Sprue
Knife: Combination of 4th ed tactical knife handle and 3.5 ed starter kit Dark Eldar bayonet and 'Spike mohawk plume thing" for the counterbalance spike at the bottom.

Cruising in my CRASSUS ARMORED ASSAULT TRANSPORT

Hmm I really want to see how this campaign turns out. The knees on Caldus seem a bit awkward however.

I guarantee you that I'm not really as smart as the test says:

Cool, I'll be interested to see how this turns out. I did one of these a couple months ago, it was fun: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/437097.page

Looking at it, I think I see what you mean, but it is most likely just the camera angle. He is in a leaping/darting position so one knee is forward slightly. I think it's the way I have the model turned etc. In real life he looks fine imo. I did go and try to spread his knee away from him a bit but to no avail. Hopefully with some paint he will look good.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Hey guys,

Here's a quick update on today's accomplishments. I completed most of the paint job on the body of devastator Lessus. I am also almost finished with the Heavy bolter, but it is unattached etc so I didn't bother to take a pic. Will post one ASAP though.

I apologize for the lighting etc. I didn't want to bother setting up reflector card etc to bounce the light. Just for the general paint scheme and what not. Let me know what you all think, but keep in mind that he looks less shiny and a lot better in real life. I'll do a good photoshoot when he is complete.

Just in case you were curious, I will be freehanding the Imperial Fists iconography on the right shoulder pad. The heavy bolter is a deep blood red and boltgun metal. I have to fiddle with the fitting to the backack so it may take some time. Anyway...

Here's an update on today's progress. I managed to fill in the awkward gap in the backpack ammo feed and finished the paint job.

Here is Devastator Brother Lessus from the Imperial Fists. I am LOVING the new ceramite white paint (a chorus of angels should sing when it opens) as it makes painting white soooooooo much easier, especially on colors like black if I mess up etc. I think that the model turned out very well for the amount of time I put into him and how old the pieces were etc. I am particularly fond of the freehand imperial fists symbol. Let me know what you think!

I tried my best with the pics. Hope they are satisfactory.

Freehanded IF decal

(This was taken before I fixed the gap, you can see it right below the shoulder pad where the backpack feed meets the pack chord. I filled it in with green stuff, painted it boltgun and added a few touch up decals and it looks pretty convincing I think).

Out in the sunlight if it is any better
