Ok, background. Bought some very cheap metal Aspect Warriors, description was that they were just built and primed, never painted. For the price, I'm ok with that, and set up my usual metal stripping rig (metal bucket, with enough acetone to cover the models) I leave them to stew for a week while I'm at school, and when I get home I go to town on them with a tooth brush, I notice something odd.... The spray comes right off, but underneath is a pretty caked on paint job. after getting off everything I can, I decide the price was still right for this and throw them back in the bucket. That was 2 weeks ago, and I haven't been able to get that second layer of paint off. I think I may have stripped some matte sealer off, they have gotten glossier, but since then i've seen no progress. Is there something else I'm missing that would make this easier?
tl;dr- Can't strip through sealer on a metal model, is there something stronger than acetone I can use?

Use Blue Wolf Cleaner instead.
I use it exclusively and it also doesn't damage finecast models.

When it comes to metal minis there is almost nothing that will damage the mini. There are some things that are resistant to acitone but not turpinetine. Give that a try. A word of warning though turpinetine will dissolve latex gloves so you should get nitrile gloves. As an aside I've never had to wait more than a few seconds for acetone to work on paint. What kind are you using? The acetone you buy in the drugstore for nails isn't the same as the stuff you buy from home depot.

Varsol, trupentine and acetone should all make short work of paint without any adverse effects to the metal mini, don't know why your acetone doesn't seem to be working on the second layer you discovered...
As always though, make sure you're properly disposing of chemicals like these (ie. don't be a gigantic #$@#$ by pouring it in the drain)

If it had a polyurethane sealer, there are only certain solvents that can easily cut through it (like Xylene) but they tend to be not readily available in other parts of the world.

Get a spray bottle of Dawn Power Disolve, dump it into a container, soak for 24 hours, be happy.

I always wonder why people that want to strip paint don't use a paint stripper?
I use Nitromors on certain paints, like enamels. It's pretty harsh stuff so don't breath it in and proper rubber gloves are required. Don't Put it near plastic models either!

It was drug store nail polish remover, bottle said 100% acetone on it. It usually works within minutes, but it took a while on this one. I'll try some actual paint stripper from home depot this weekend, hopefully it works, I have at least 1000 points here I can't use yet :(
As an aside, should I make the extra paint an issue towards the seller? I was told they were built and primed, but they have obviously been painted.

I would say that in this case, no. If you got a good deal, you really don't have a whole lot to complain about. As with any pre-owned minis, you have to accept the fact that you're going to have to put in work to make them look like how you want them if you don't like the original owner's paint scheme. Does it suck to have to do extra work? Sure...but if you want good-looking minis, that extra work will pay off in the end.
