Hi there, I've never converted a thing in my life, but I really like Mephiston as a character, but absolutely despise the model from GW. I've got a rough plan set out:

Get a SM commander back, the cloaked one

Get Astorath the grim, metal or resin, and cut off most of his back to get it to fit wit the SM back

Use this high elf head: http://bitzbarn.com/oscommerce/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=5041

Use Astorath's shoulder pad on his left arm for the shoulderpad on Mephiston's right arm.

I'm completely stumped for what arms to use though. I'm thinking of using most of astorath's, because of the muscle skin look, but no clue what arms to use for the gloves, or even how to do the gloves. Only way I can think is nabbing some WHF Elf arms or something. I was planning on taking a friend's Mephiston and doing a resin cast of the psychic hood to try and do that, and using guitar strings for the psychic hood power system stuff, and probably a DC backpack. Plasma pistols are easy to come by, but I was thinking about a Sanguinary Guard one, and cutting it up to put it on a hand that would fit. I can make a resin/greenstuff cast of my friend's mephiston's power sword's blade, but I would rather not if there's one that looks like his.

Any help would be appreciated.

You'll also want the Sanguinary Guard set for the BA logo shoulder pad. The tricky bit will be making the hood/collar.
Chaos marine arms have exactly the kind of gloves you're looking for. I seem to remember using a chaos marine arm on mine (and sculpted the other glove).
I'd avoid guitar string and get hold of the masq-mini tube tool. Greenstuff cables are far more flexible, and will save a lot of headaches. Very much worth the investment. I would have used them if I had the tool when I did mine.

Ooooh, ok. I don't think I'm going to be doing enough converting/scratcbuilding to make those worth it, but, I think I'll make a mould of my guitar string and use greenstuff to make new ones. Thanks for the tip.

Also, upon your advice, I went a searchin' for chaos bitz, and found:

Right arm: http://bitzbarn.com/oscommerce/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1191
Lelft arm: http://bitzbarn.com/oscommerce/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1189

What do you think? I think they're perfect. Thanks for the tips.

Are you set on having the gloved hands? If you are just going to use a normal power sword, the Death Company box has some BA decorated ones.

Also, the Sanguinary Guard kit has a pretty large sword that may be more appropriate for an HQ character. But again, neither of these options have the gloved hands.
