It's sad many American leaders can do something like that with out it getting Politicized to all hell.
If Obama did the news everyone would be calling it "A GOVERNMENT TAKE OVER OF THE NEWS AND WEATHER, QUICK GRAB YOU CONCEALED ASSAULT RIFLES AND REVOLT"

So the Trekkies are zipping around at warp speed taking small chucks out of an nigh-on infinite amount of ships, with the Imperium being unable to strike back. feth it, says central command, and detonates every vortex warhead in the fleet, plunging the entire sector into the Warp. Enjoy tentacle-rape, Kirk, we know Sulu will." -Terminus

I dont think it would get that out of hand here in the States. I think your exaggerating that a bit. Id be incredibly surprised to see any political figure doing news here TBH though.
That was pretty cool to see, thanks for sharing it

It helps that the Prince has no real political power. If our head of state was not also the head of government, you would probably see more stuff like this in the US.
Come to think of it, there's something to be said for separating the two offices.

He visited my college campus that day as well. The lecturers were scrambling to see him out of the windows as he pulled up in his limo (luckily the college inspectors chose to be elsewhere at that time....). The class however mostly just got on with our programming and wondering what all the fuss was about (really breaking the lazy geek stereotype).
