Wouldn't it be awesome if you could do this?

Like doctrines, 30pts for preferred enemy orks or nids, or 40pts for space marines. It would make total sense if there was a "veterans" rule that let a squad choose specializations. IG vets, terminators, chosen etc.

Not to mention how great a modelling incentive it would be.

Probability of this in 6th ed SM anyone?

Awesome, but a little fiddly and difficult to gauge in a TAC list.

Probability? Low.

You can already. Just reroll Black Templars!

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

I wish you could still buy veteran skills like in 4th, but alas. I don't know if I'd go +30 points (sure is useful to have preferred enemy on my meltavets!) but the points would be different for different units and abilities.

The campaign I'm in right now has some sort of similar things going on. Since I've accomplished a few special campaign objectives I can give one unit Furious Charge, and next time I complete one I can give another unit Preferred Enemy.

Just feel like they've been nibbling at something like this for a while now with traits, veteran skills, doctrines, tyrannic war vets etc.

Campaigns are one thing I guess. Never played any myself.
