Aside from buying the snow flock from GW has anyone had any success using anything else?

If so.. what? Mainly cause its going to be used for some minor detail and dont want to spend too much on something thats going to be used once or twice

Woodland Scenics snow has given me very good results, and it is not nearly as expensive as GW's.

Sodium Bicarbonate, baking soda.

Dirt cheap and readily available. It isn't that amazing for a thick fresh coat, but great for a few days old snow sludge.

Actually, relatively few people have had success using GW snow flock, as it's simply white static grass. Woodland Scenics, GF9, etc. have more realistic offerings, which are actually powders.

If you go the DIY route, baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) is a popular choice, although some insist on the addition of white paint to counteract potential yellowing, over time. I've tried it with various glues/additives/application methods - all gave somewhat different effects, but all were attractive/realistic enough, and none of the test patches have yellowed at all after many, many months of sitting around.
