Howdy Brothers ( and Sisters),
I am having trouble with Eldar. One of my regular opponents plays a Mechdar list. His List is Fire Dragon and Dire Avengers in Wave Serpents backed up by 2 Prisim Cannons, and Eldrad. I have fought him using both Lusander and Pedro, and cannot seem to beat hm. The Core of my list is Tacticals backed up by Sternguard. The main difficulty is that he is so very fast. Advice or suggestions on negating his speed would be appreciated.

About how many points are you using. If it's less than 2000 points, I wouldn't field pedro and Lysander at the same time. How much anti-tank do you have?

Alaitoc eldar 1250 points
Space marines 2250 points

Poster BaneGuard is on the right track:
It's his Wave Serpents that are beating you (and FDragons, too). You need lotsa STR 8 to bring those down, so, three Devastator squads, MLs only (which means losing the Vin, since his FDragons will cook it anyway).
Replace Pedro with a librarian and his Psychic Hood to hobble (not beat, but just counter) Eldrad. His Dire Avengers aren't that great in h2h so Pedro's 1+ Att buff is irrelevant. The Psychic Hood is sorely needed.

The MGs are not good versus the Wave Serpent's Energy Wave, so I'd toss the whole squad in favor of the Devs above.

Not enough troops at 1750, even with combat squads. I'd bring in a 3rd tactical with rhino, PG and free ML.
Starheart wrote:Assault squad 2 flamers
Switch to MGs for the one or twice opportunity of a rear AV10 shot on a Wave Serpent.

Both are sitting ducks for the FDragons, so out they should go.
All that advice, of course, pending your possession of model availability. What else you got?
So:
3 Devs with MLs, maybe 6 or 7 bodies each
Librarian, no frills
Another tacitcal
Most MGs out because Wave Serpents are like the Honey Badger - don't care.

I would not use the vindicator against the type of eldar list you have described. I would give all of your sternguard combi melta instead of split combi weapons.
I definitely agree with brother erekose on the devastator idea, though I would go 2 squads instead of 3.
Your ironclad has the right gear for versing eldar, though keep it away from the fire dragons (may be a bit hard but anyway).

Not to be dick, especially since you gave me props, , but MGs don't get double dice rolls to Pen versus Wave Serpent front and side ends. Didja know that?
Hmm. I wonder about the MathHammer. Which will crack a WaveS more? Double tap plasmagun or 1 meltagun shot?
Anybody smarter than me for the odds figuring, go for it!

I know that meltaguns don't roll 2 dice, but the strength 8 and ap 1 I find are good enough to do damage. Even though the melta has a small range, the eldar would get close enough anyway.

You basically need to De-Mech Eldar.
Str7 Spam can do this pretty well, So can str8. Lascannons and Meltas are wasted on wave serpents, but are still effective.
Meltas and Lascannons should focus on the prisms.
Shoot his fire dragons in his backfield then kill them with whatever, then kill the other stuff.
Eldar really have no way of dealing with Mass Armor 3+, if you bring 50 marines he wont be able to kill half of them. Eldar also cant deal with armor 12 spam, if you bring alot of armor 12 he can kill some with fire dragons, but the rest he really cant deal with.
Eldar isnt a kill army, its a run around the board and not die army. The trick is to kill his transports, and then slaughter whats inside.
Devastors with missiles / Thunderhammers / Preds with autocannon/Las / Rifle Dreds / Typhoons / Spam Krak Grenades are always good.
One thing you want to do is drive up the field, and push him into a corner. Go after whatever falls out and force him to commit with his fire dragons.
Mech Eldar isnt a very good army anymore, and it isnt hard to beat if you keep your army together and whither him down.

It is definitely the Wave Serpents and Fire Dragons. I can muster 8 Missile Launchers, 3 Plasma Cannon, 2 Lascannon, and 3 Multi Meltas.
Thanks for the advice Brothers!

Well, you need Predators for long range fire support. I suggest 3 autolas Predators. Placed in the backfield, they should be able to take on the Serpents. Drop Pods with melta toting weapons are nice but rather useless vs Serpents thanks to the energy field.
