Is there any sort of collection of not necessarily overpowered, but tried and true army lists out there that are easy to remember, and easy to pull together from the most common model collections?

If you could just click on the army you want to play (e.g. Codex, Chaos, IG, Orks, etc.), overall tactic (e.g. assault, gunline, mech, stealth), and points value in 500 intervals, with a balanced list spit out instantly it would save a lot of time.

Our group has access to damn near anything we would want to run (or at least close enough proxies for the weird things), but always spend an hour mucking about with the lists and trying to decide whether we should get something useless with that last 43 points or rework half the list.

this is just to test out a small space marine force the chaplin goes with the assault squad its not perfect but its just to test it out

Ah, I was just wondering if there was already a compiled list of somewhat balanced selections for each army at all common points levels so you could basically just "draw an army card from the stack" without mucking about in list building. We usually determine points level based on how much free time we have to play. So it would be cool to have lists already sorted into even points values for each army based on certain criteria where someone has already figured out how to make the points selections fit nicely.

Try having a army and list already chosen. That's what my gaming group does. That way no time is wasted writing a list when you should be battling.
