i need help with making a chaos guardsmen to go along with my Khorne Berserker army.

Its going to be converted from normal cadians and another fantasy kit (either bloodletters, beastmen, zombies or flaggellants)

What I was wondering was what would be the best list construction for a, wait for it, close combat orientated guard army.

Powerblobs for Troops, Straken as HQ (Possibly with Nork). Powerblobs are actually a very efficient CC unit, especially at tying up the enemy.

Ogryns are not nearly as effective, but probably worth a look. Flamer Sentinels might be a fun option. Otherwise, just build in fire support for your troops with artillery and whatever else you feel like using.

Ogryns can be effective at CC, but, you realy have to add Yarrick to make it worth it. I like the thought of penal legion squads as choas style guardsman, fluff wise. The chance of getting the extra close combat weapon/rending rule is slight though.

Power blobs are the way to go for CC in IG. However, IG is not the way to go for CC.

Flaggellants make excellent sergeants and/or officers. At least that's why I did why my traitor guard.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Lets not forget priests aswell. They work well in a power blobs and in good vet squads.

Creed and kell.
Give four powerblobs furious charge and fearless for a turn. Fill the squads with meltas, powerfists, comissars/priests, and there's not much that's gonna come out the other end. Not even the BA blenderbot is going to have enough attacks to kill them all
I don't think there's anything more Khorney in the Guard codex than a swarm of guardsmen striking like marines that will never run no matter how many casualties they take (what with a fearless under orders, and a LD 10 re-roll without them).
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
You could also combine this with the space-russian guy who gives you another wave of conscripts when your first blob has been wiped out. More blood, more skulls. Of course, you would need a lot of guardsmen for this.

Christ, where do you buy your turnips?
