Hi everyone,

I'm cooking up a scenario for a weekly game with a buddy. Mirror match of Haqq versus Haqq. Our last game involved two rival factions raiding an underground bunker for weapons technology & prototypes before O-12 inspectors arrived to confiscate them. I figured on continuing the theme, this time, we have to evacuate the scientists from another part of the base before they can be brought in for questioning by O-12's Bureau Noir agents. Constructive commentary and suggestions very much appreciated.

Oplan: KARAMBIT

Lieutenant,

With the successful recovery of the weapon prototypes during Oplan:KALIS, all that remains is to tie up loose ends. The science team responsible for the weapon prototypes must be evacuated before O-12 can lay their hands on them. Unfortunately, we cannot depend on the loyalty of the entire science team. We have sympathizers among the research staff, but there are those whose loyalties lie with Colonel (REDACTED)'s faction. Secure as much of the science team as possible, but if that cannot be done, then insure that Colonel (REDACTED) cannot get his grubby little paws on them.

O-12 and the Diwan-al-Jund cannot be allowed to gain evidence of our actions. Your troops have been supplied with nanovore packages for the disposal of our fallen. Conversely, if evidence of Colonel (REDACTED)'s men interfering in an O-12 investigation is left behind, then we will shed no tears.

---

Pointage: 200
Deployment: 4x4 standard table deployment. Preferably, terrain is set up as if an underground installation. Few if any multi-story shenanigans. Each player places a circular blast template in their deployment zone to represent their extraction point/dropship, etc.
Restrictions: As the operation occurs in an underground environment, AD 3 (Combat Jump) may not be used to jump directly onto the field, but AD 1 & 2 may still be used to deploy along the table edges to represent units entering through side tunnels.
Time Limit: 5 turns (Too long? Too short?)

Primary Objective: Extraction
Place three civilians along the centerline of the map, no closer than 10' to each other to represent the science team. Starting with the player who has initiative, each player designates one scientist as friendly (making it hostile to the other player), while the third is neutral. A figure attempting to synch with a friendly scientist need not make a Willpower roll to synch, spending only a short skill (see Human Sphere for civilian rules). Neutral and hostile scientists use the normal civilian rules. Once a scientist is within the controlling player's extraction zone, the controller may spend an order (long skill provoking ARO to the scientist or controller, treat as Dodge if opposed) to evacuate the scientist.
Victory Points: (Really not sure how to weigh these, so I'm open to suggestions)
+3 pts for evacuating a scientist
-1 pt. for killing a scientist

Secondary Objective: Leave No Trace
No evidence of your actions must be left behind. Whenever a unit is killed by an attack that does not use Flame, Viral, or Nano ammunition, its miniature is not removed, and the body is treated as if prone. The dead body remains in the field unless destroyed. Any of your units may destroy a body by spending a short skill while in base contact to apply a nanovore package, or shooting the body with a weapon that uses Flame, Nano, or Viral ammunition.
-1 pt for each friendly corpse left on the field.
-1 pt additional if the body of your starting lieutenant is left on the field.
-1 pt if a hostile scientist is killed and the body not destroyed.

It's pretty cool I like it a lot. It makes me think of coming up with a new piece of equipment for certain troops. Restraints for troops like Celestial Guard and Securitate.

Thanks CDK. I like the fluff myself, keeps the mission more interesting than just a straight shoot-em-up.

Rules wise, I don't know if I should add another way to get points. For example, scoring 1 pt. for each friendly unit that you can evacuate by spending a long order at the extraction point? Can only be done after at least one scientist has been evacuated through your EP or there are no living scientists remaining? You could score a lot of points that way, but every trooper that punches out is one less on the field and one less in your order pool to duke it out for the science team. Or should I just weigh the science team higher, say 5 points, as I expect a lot of dead bodies lying around?

I say try it out. Sometimes you don't know until you do a test. Things that look good on paper don't always work out and visa versa.
