So i was on the Phone with a guy from GW, he was telling me i could buy my pain doc other equipment?

It seems all the models iv'e seen i wouldn't think so, Was the guy back from the pub after a Pint? or can i buy him Cybork body, and heavy arm, as well as other things??

has any of you lot done so

I have never gamed with him, other then what he has.
but the Conversion bug has bit me, and before i make a big mistake.. i wanted to check with you guys.

I assume you mean the Painboy in a Nobz unit.

He can receive any of the benefits said to be for the whole mob (i.e. Bikes, Stikkbombz, and Cybork Bodies) because he is a member of the mob, however, he can't take any of the Options that start with "Any Nob May" because in becoming a Painboy he is no longer a "Nob".

Are you talking about a Painboy in a Nobs squad?

If so, you are unable to improve his weapons because you must swap out the Nobs Slugga and Choppa to a Dok's Tools and 'urty syringe when you upgrade the Nob to the Painboy (so therefore the model must still have its slugga and choppa when you upgrade).

However, you can still give the entire unit Bikes and/or Stikkbombz and you can also give a Nob eavy armor, boss pole, Waaagh Banner and/or an Ammo Runt before upgrading that Nob into a Painboy and that equipment would be retained.

So in other words, you can essentially give a Painboy any of the upgrades except for weapon swaps.

Actually, based on the Ork FAQ that allows a Nob to take his Powerklaw before the squad swaps out its sluggas/choppas for shootas, I think its pretty clear that you're allowed to do your upgrades in any order you like.

So you could give a Nob 'eavy armor, for example, and then upgrade him to a Painboy. As long as you haven't changed the Nobs weapons, this upgrade is perfectly legal.

At least that's my take on it.

I definitely agree you can do it in any order, where I would contend with this interpretation is that I feel once his statline changes from being a "Nob" to being a "Painboy" I would argue he should not be able to have upgrades that were only allowed to Nobs, regardless of order he is no longer a Nob and thus no longer entitled to them, and regardless of the order you did it in, the unit is now invalid according to its army list entry.

Certainly I will concede that there is no RAW that really covers this though.

Alright, thanks! that was a close one, There i was holding the painboy in my hands, thinking what i could do to make the Pain boys 'Eavy Arm. look more Apothecary'ish.
