Ok, interesting problem comes up.

Squig or Squig hopper bounces onto a cannon unit landing on one of the crew.

#1)Is the hit automatically resolved against the crewman or does it need to be randomised? Had someone argue that it needed to be randomised like a shooting attack.

I went ahead and rolled it random and still got a crewman so I guess it didn't matter but I was wondering if there was anything to clarify how that one worked? It hits the model of the "unit" and then the attack gets worked out, by rule, against the "unit" and not "model".

Also another interesting point/question...

#2)The Hooper/loose squig rules state "unit" and not "model". But the only way a squig would miss is if it lands on an "empty space". Is that empty as in no physical model or empty as in no "unit". In the case of a cannon and crew, it is possible to "miss" the models and land right in the middle of the unit yea? Would that count as striking a unit even though no model was touched?

Can you D.I.G. it?

#1.  The cannon crew would be considered in combat at that moment with the Squig, and therefore the attacks would be directed towards the crew.  If  fanatic had hit the unit then it would be treated as "shooting" since the rule specifically says that the fanatic hits are distributed as shooting hits.

#2.  If the squig lands in the unit.  Therefore if the squig would land in the middle of a skirmished unit that is spread out enough for it to fully land, it would still be considered in the unit.  However note the key word there is landed, not hit.  I've seen people make the mistake of attacking units the Squig would pass threw vice landing in them.

If you take squigs ensure to take hoppers (as many as you can).  It's always fun to do the ping-pong between two units (especially Tzeetch flying chariots) and eventually kill them.   Unless you're unlucky and roll doubles a lot.

Ok so as to #2 then it would attack and bounce again if it lands "inside" the unit. You're right, it doesn't say model... sometimes I read a rule so many times I miss the most obvious part of it. Thank you GmoD

Can you D.I.G. it?
