Hi, everyone! I have been fascinated with Warhammer since the late '80's. A few years back, I picked up a few armies (Night Goblins, Space Marines,) and starter bundles (Macragge and Brettanians vs Orcs). But, I soon realized how doing everything right would be overwhelming unless I had the time to focus on it exclusively. Fast Forward to the present, and I've finally dragged everything out and spent over 100 hours in the past 2 weeks researching EVERYTHING I COULD.

I'm ready to primer, and I had a few questions:

1) I've heard people say that vinegar is the best thing to use to clean figures right before spraying primer (rinsing excessively with water afterwards, ofcourse).
I already used DAWN and an electric toothbrush to scrub them, but is vinegar better?

2) I know it's dependent on humidity and temperature, but what's the approximate window of time I should wait between applying the first coat of Citadel Chaos Black Primer and the second?
If it helps, I will probably be spray painting at about 75-80 degrees (Fahrenheit) and about 50% humidity = cool morning here in Texas Summer)

3) Again, I'm using Citadel Chaos Black Primer. I've heard complaints about the nozzles on the cans, and mine is a bit old (used can).
I did test it and it seems to spray very smoothly, but I also bought a set of assorted Liquitex spray nozzles jus in case (regular, narrow, and wide) .
I've heard GREAT THINGS about them. But, I haven't heard anything from miniature painters. Can anyone tell me which one (if any) is best to use and any benefits I would gain?
With my little experience, i would presume that the narrow would be more paint efficient and might have a finer spray, but it would probably clog much easier.

4) I want to confirm. I've been told that I should wait about 1 hour before attempting to paint after priming? Legit advice?

I would appreciate any help I can get. I plan to start spraying as soon as the weather dries up a bit. Wouldn't you know, it was dry for a whole week until I was actually ready to start spraying :|

Welcome to dakka, mate!
Priming isn't really that delicate.... I rinse my models with water and just spray on the primer when they are dry, as long as temperatures aren't freezing or its raining. So far, everything has worked perfectly well.

Good luck with your painting!

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka you'd probably get a better response from the Dakka painting forum.

@MrMerlin - I'm a bit OCD, so I tend to overdo most projects. I do feel better when people tell me it's easier than I'm making it out to be

@Rampage - Thanks! I've been lurking for awhile, and finally have my own questions.

@Knightley - I'll make sure to post all my painting questions there. I just wanted to get registered and introduce myself before posting in other areas (most forums won't allow you to post elsewhere until after a trial period, anyway)

Hello and welcome to Dakka Dakka!

I would give it longer than an hour. I usually let the primer set overnight. However, that may be overkill I suppose.
