Who Are We?

War & Peace Games Club is a group of gamers who meet every Wednesday night to play and paint a wide variety of board games, card games, tabletop wargames and miniatures. Our members regularly play:

Kings Of War
X-Wing
DreadBall
Warpath
Talisman

But all games are welcome. I'm looking to start Warhammer 40'000 : Rogue Trader and Warhammer Fantasy Battles 3rd Edition as well as Flames Of War and Fanticide.

We also play a variety of card and dice games usually after the meet in the pub downstairs Zombie Dice, Star Fluxx Munchkin,


Who is welcome?

In short, EVERYONE. As long as you are interested in playing Wargames, boardgames or RPG's then come along. There is no age limit on membership and all levels of experience are welcome. We are always keen to help beginners learn to play and always have demo tables for a range of games to hand. If you play a game not mentioned above you are still welcome to come along, show us what you do and you’ll most likely find somebody who’ll try something new.

When are the meetings?

We meet every Wednesday from 7pm till late

Where are the meetings?

We meet at: Springfield Hall, Station Road, Sandiacre, Nottingham. There is FREE parking nearby and a bar.

Is there a charge?

Yes. Full years membership is £60 or you can simply pay each week £2. We also over a monthly subscription for £5. Full Membership gives you discount codes for 10% off various hobby sites such as Mantic Games, On The Lamb Games, Tiny Worlds Wargaming and Warbases. Club members also get 15% discount from our Club webstore.

You can buy drinks and pub snacks from the well stocked bar.

Had a great opening night with Ronnie bringing lots of shiny new stuff to look at (including the new KOW rulebook). A massive multplayer game of KOW 3rd edition took place - 2500 points a side and played within 2 hours.

Sorry for not posting regularly here but we've launched a brand new website and have been upgrading the club recently.

Tomorrow is another meet and we're branching out into other game systems like Warhammer, Warhammer 40K and more. Please read the updated first post or head over to the website for more details.

We meet 12pm - 6pm tomorrow at the Stumble Inn. Club fee is £2 but we are introducing a "book your table" system as of next week. Again, details on the website, but this is to ensure all players can get a fair turn on the tables.

I'm playing some DreadBall and Warpath and rolling up some characters to take part in an Advanced HeroQuest session ready for our first adventuring campaign.

CLUB NIGHT
This week will have Week 4 of the DreadBall League underway. Robz Ratz seem to have taken an early lead, followed by the HellHammers, Void Sirens, Brutal Deluxe, Hivers, Maulers, Serbius and of course my very own Cargo Bay Packers. I'm wanting to get started some regular games of Kings Of War and will be launching an escalation campaign to get the ball rolling.

Macmillan Cancer Support
In Septemberwe will be hosting two fundraising events in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. The first is on our usual club night with all entry fees, memberships and stock sales going towards our goal of raising £150. The second is a more formal coffee morning on the 27th September with the usual cakes and buns, tea and coffee, with again, all proceeds going to the charity. If you can support us in any way - either by sharing our FB posts, or by participating on the days in question, I would be most greatful.

A major part of the club in the years to come will be the website/store. This is slowly growing with new aspects added each week. I am working hard to turn this into a true hobby hub for gamers the world over and the first stage is the website. This now has a few more details, with more items added to the store, a better events page and an upcoming revamped blog page. Plans For The Future
War & Peace Games Club has now become my full time job and I am hoping to bring back some of the fun and excitement I remember from my days as an assistant and manager at GW Leeds (Harrogate, Bradford, Bristol and more) back in the early to late 90's. We've started with the weekly club which is still in its infancy but going strong; we've added the website which is now finding its feet and in the near future we want to be able to bring you a daily venue/store. To mis-quote a famous Emperor: "Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen..." so far anyway, and with your help and support we'll get there with another small step every day.

We are then hoping to host our first Kings Of War tournament in November over the weekend of the 16/17.

This week, however, it's all about DreadBall with another round of League games. My Cargo Bay Packers won last weeks game but got mullered, losing 4 players. Going in this week with just 6 players on the roster and no cash in the bank.

It's Club night tonight and what a packed evening of gaming we have.

DREADBALL LEAGUE

It's week 6 of our Sinclair Omega Division League and the Cargo Bay Packers have a return match against the Hellhammers. It's Forge Father on Forge Father action tonight, and following the Packers massacre last time these two teams met (Packers won but had 4 players killed), expect a lot of blood.

X-WING

A couple of gamers are bringing X-Wing and Star Trek Attack Wing tonight. Borrow the clubs X-Wing, or Tie Fighters if you want to take part.

40K

A few people have asked if they can play 40K this week. Hopefully this is the start of some dark millenium gaming here at the club. Feel free to bring your armies down and take part.

Kings Of War Campaign

Orctober sees the launch of our first ever Kings Of War campaign. A nice simple system designed to encourage new players of KOW to collect, paint and game with a new army from 500pts right up to 1500pts over nine weeks. Full details here
