However note that the server is currently in creative mode temporarily "for fun" before the reset this weekend. You'll find most places (including the spawn area) have been destroyed by TNT happy players.

Do what you like till the reset, but after the new world comes in, please abide by the rules in the FAQ above, as you and 4oursword's accounts are linked, any griefing from either gets both accounts banned.

I've just tidied it a little (parted the flowing water a bit so there is at least some ground there), but I don't have time to do more.

You can't place blocks in the spawn area. Move about 30 blocks away and try again.

NOTE that there is a very annoying bug in Minecraft 1.0, when you try to join a server you often get:
"The server responded with an invalid key"

I have found the best solution to this is to just keep trying the "Direct Connect" option with the IP address (not web2.dakkadakka.com) - 178.63.68.200

This seems to avoid the "End of Stream" error you get for 60 seconds if you try to use the server list.

As the world is brand new, there's no welcome area yet, so you'll have to fend for yourself a bit.

I have another possible bug. It seems that Chickens, and possibly cows, aren't able to be corralled. They don't seem to follow wheat, unfortunately. This is on the server, I'm certain it works fine on single player.

In SMP sometimes animals follow wheat and sometimes they don't. It's sporadic, just keep trying. But this is the thread for new people, not bug reports. :-)
