So you object to people that aren't "lean and hungry" campaigning for the redistribution of wealth?

Can I therefore assume you would support a group of bodybuilders campaigning for government support?

No, I object to d-usa suggesting he's the type of poor peasant who would be capable of taking the king's deer.

I wasn't talking about Robin Hood.

Also: are you going to make some sort of public statement that I am off your ignore list? I'm only asking since you made such a dramatic deal out of putting me on it to begin with.

I would hate for people to call your discipline into question regarding these manners. It's acceptable for poor fat low class folks like myself, but a lean mean member of the 1% like yourself has to keep up appearances.

Nah. Manchu didn't make one when he took me off his. I opted to follow a moderator's example. I'm amused that it bothers you so much, though.

The king has always had deer. The king will always have deer. There are also lots of deer running around all over the kingdom, and the next kingdom, and the free country of DakkaDakka. The king is also the one who thinks that he is the only one with deer and that everybody else is just waiting to take them away from him.

The king is delusional.

The kind is delusional.

Not when people actually are.

I've spoken about people desperately hoping the government redistributes wealth to them simply for having the immense talent of being alive. If you group yourself in that category, that's on you, my friend. There are people out there who make a hell of a lot more than me, and my entire political philosophy isn't based around trying to vote their income away from them and into my own pockets. Does that make it better? Yes, it absolutely does.

I don't think that wealth = better.

I do think that constantly pointing out how much wealthier you are than everybody else = acting like you think you are better.

When asked, yes, I'm absolutely guilty of admitting that I work in a high cost-of-living region and make commensurate salary.

Of those two statements that actually dealt with wealth, both were preceded by somebody actually asking. As you'd know if you bothered to follow the discussion, rather than loafing around looking for an excuse to pop in and fling poo.

So you're better than... the Baron, if I recall correctly, at least by merit of being more informed, more experienced, and more intelligent. This appears to be on the basis of you each holding different opinions. Now, before this thread devolved into a Terry Gilliam film, think that I also held an opinion differing to yours, amongst other people. So, without understanding of the backgrounds of at least several forum members here, you've made sweeping assumptions about, at a minimum, their intelligence and experience (experience in what? life?) and now you seem to be saying that this didn't happen, not a page of posts before someone pointing out where it did.

Are you your own parody?

That might be what it appears, but it's actually on the basis of his having made ill-informed, inexperienced, and not particularly bright claims. From "the tax burden in the US falls mainly on the poor," to "the Tea Party and revolutionary Frenchmen are basically the same," right down to "landing on a carrier doesn't require skill," and everything in between.

Ah, I see. Because I said something directed at him, about him, it must also apply to you? If you agree with him point for point, you know what? It would.

It's not about differing opinion. It's about factually right vs. factually wrong.

Actually, now that I pause to reread the original quote some 7 pages ago, it appeared to be directed at Andrew for complaining about a large sum spent on a fighter that he thought was unfit for purpose. As to whether or not I'd agree with it, I'd have to know which fighter design he was referring to. There have been quite a few.

Now, before this thread devolved into a Terry Gilliam film, think that I also held an opinion differing to yours, amongst other people. Ah, I see. Because I said something directed at him, about him, it must also apply to you? If you agree with him point for point, you know what? It would.

Well, unfortunately, due to other obligations I've not been able to give this thread the attention it rightfully deserves, let alone a segment of a conversation from 7 pages ago.

It's not about differing opinion. It's about factually right vs. factually wrong.

And absent of actually having those facts, gaking all over someone in a thread works almost as well, right?

Are you your own parody?

I'm starting to wonder the same about you, with the extent you seem to be upset about something you had nothing to do with.

Some people tire of people who act like insufferably arrogant pricks. Sometimes they get involved in insults not directly aimed at them because they're sick of the bs. it's usually a misuse of energy and time, but what can I say, some people don't appreciate people who appear to be genuinely bad people.

You know, when did I say that I thought you thought you were better than me anyway? I mean, you clearly deify yourself, but when did I express any concern for any direct comparison you've made between the two of us prior to you accusing me of doing so. I totally can't remember.
