I think this would be a beneficial and a relatively easy to implement addition to the forum.

Rather often, I find myself typing a quick reply which ends up quite long or complex, at this point I always miss the preview button and the full reply functionality. If the preview button was located beside the quick reply submit button it would be very useful to, I'm sure, more than just myself.

This wouldn't require coding a new web page, more simply it would just transfer your message to the full reply screen with the message preview on show.

Interested to here what you think,
Casey.

P.S. My current solution is copy and paste because it solves everything.

On a boat, Trying not to die.

There is an edit button.

There is no shame in clicking it.

Haha, very true. If that edit button was integrated into my keyboard I would have worn it out by now!

My solution feels smoother though and that's always a good thing, right?

Not really, You dont even have to click the edit button. Have you ever double clicked on on of your posts before? Give it a try

I would argue that the quick reply feature is as the name suggests --- for quick replies that you don't need to thoroughly review(preview) or anything.

The post reply feature already satisfies the requirements of a user who wants to have the 'full deal' when posting a reply.

Fair enough, it's probably something that very few people would use.

I was going to say no for the reasons given, but now that you have pointed it out I keep noticing I need it. It is only a quick copy/paste to add the button so I have added it to the short term todo list.

Any update on this, Lego?

I feel like i need another win in Nuts and Bolts. Think this would be number 7 or maybe more.

P.S. We aren't alerted when Necroing our own threads now. Good update!

Gathering the Informations.

I don't think that this really would be that beneficial. If you need a "Preview" of your post...just use "Post Reply" rather than "Quick Reply".

The "Quick Reply" box is, in and of itself, a "Preview" window is it not?

Fair enough, i'm just looking for an update from, Lego. He seemed to like the idea so i'd like to see if it's still on the to do list.

Maybe just a button to take it to the normal posting page? Sort of like the quote feature.

Yeh i think he's going to make it a preview button so it takes you to the full reply screen but you keep the comment you've already typed in quick reply.

It was more complicated than just adding a button for a number of technical reasons (primarily linked to double post protection code). Might add at some point, but no time soon, sorry
