Ladybugs and Gentlemen, I am starting a Nids army, and if its anything like my other armies... they will be Apoc level immediately, So far I have coming. . .
84x Genestealers (30 Nos)
20x Ym. Genestealers
110x Rippers
2x Tervigons (soon to be 5)(nos)
148x Termaguants (98x Nos)
2x Hive Tyrants (Nos)

My paint scheme. order of operations was going to be,
1) Prime black or high gloss black......................................................................................................................................................(offer a suggestion)
2) paint the shells Red Gore
3) paint the talons either Bleached Bone, Gore Red or a light colour...........................................................................................(offer a suggestion)
4) Put Ladybug dots on the backs
..............i) Dots determines squad ie: 1 dot= squad 1 , 2= squad 2)
..............ii) Add extended carapace to all genestealers, add dots
5) Convert models with wings and give black line highlights to wings
...............i) models that have large carapace will also receive dots
6) Hoofs of all MC will be highlighter with grey
7) Bodies will be highlighted with 50/50 black/grey
...............i) This is conditional if I prime the bodies either high gloss or flat black
8) Red shells will be highlighted with Mechrite red, or or again please off a suggestion........................................................(offer a suggestions)

Well, I did post some stuff on suggestions you guys can make for them. The main questions is whether I should prime them High gloss black vs regular black. Ill post an image of what I have done with some bloodletters

I'm looking forward to seeing the first examples of these critters. About the time I was getting into Bugs for the first time, we were being swarmed by Japanese beetles, so naturally I went down that road. Black base, metallic green armor plates, metallic copper trim. Based on nature works well - go for it.

Personally I'd suggest flat black for the bulk of the underbody. Use gloss edges to give it some character.

Yes, there are female marines and my Sunhawks will explain it to you.

Not all of the Emperor's Children turned coat. We WILL redeem our honor.

Thats not a bad suggestion. Go flat black for base coat. Do a light and quick base coat of the high gloss... thanks for the suggestion!

Sounds great - I've always like the idea of nid 'anti-camouflage', where they're relying on causing terror rather than sneaking around.

Personally I'd go for a red prime/undercoat, then add the black detailing - although admittedly the new GW reds do have pretty good coverage (unlike the old ones which always needed multiple coats).

I'd do the non-red/black bits in a dull mid brownish grey, with talon/claw ends dry-brushed to a lighter colour, then washed black - that will keep the focus on the ladybug armour.

That seems like a good colour scheme. I will test out several looks.

Thats the plan! Ill use the above suggestion and post 3-4 different colour schemes on some guants.
