So everyone says THIN YOUR PAINTS...now, I paint Imperial Fists and I use the new GW paints cause I love Averland Sun. I've definitely been thinning them for about a year (Foundations before new Base yellow) but I still get grainy coats.

Yesterday, I discovered drying retarder from Reaper, and the coats are dramatically smoother and the paint's leaving the brush is noticeably better...galactically better. So here's the question:

Should I work in a flow improver as well to create a thinning solution? If I do will I experience this kind of dramatic change?

Any advice on thinning solutions would be welcome cause this drying retarder is dramatic.

Well, the interesting thing about a drying retarder is that it's pretty potent stuff. If you add too much (not sure where that fine line is) your acrylic paint will never dry. So be careful.

What I do is use a mix of distilled water and flow improver 10:1, and thin it to my preferable consistency. Mess around with the ratio to see where you like it most.

Hope my 2 cents help ya out

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

Thank you! I'm going to pick up some flow improver today...scouring the web for formulae and ratios. All magic formulae are welcome!
