Hello all
So here I have a few pics of my W.I.P. BattleWagon. The idea is essentially a transport platform with maximum capacity (20 boyz) armed with a Kannon and two twin-linked big shootas and Extra Armour Plates. The structure will be low profile and as tight as possible for maximum capacity and minimal visibility, also it will have a reddish brown camo paint scheme so as to blend in on most of the scorched and barren worlds the Orks may fight on.
But for now i present to you a random heap of Plastic bits, LEGOs, drinking straws and lots of card.
Any and all suggestions welcome (Moar pics in gallery)

So now I have primed the entire thing with grey (later I figured I should have used black which I´ll remember next time)

Got some black paint slapped on and dry-brushed with silver. Also picked out some yellow and started picking out some other details such as the engine and whatnot... then some rust and mud and other nice things

More pics in gallery and more to come

Slightly off topic, but...

I use the same paint! The silver is great, but I find that the black is really thick.

Staying off topic, I actually used another black that´s called REEVES and comes in a tube... and I also watered it down as I´ll do with most the paint that goes on this BW. I´ll post an update on the yellows and some rust tomorrow

Well now, got some paint done today. More yellows, dirt, scraped paint and some rust. I have still a few details to put on it, mainly the co-driver / spotter who´s going on top, then I have to make my two twin-linked skorchas that will go on either set of tracks and a few little random pieces here and there.

Here´s an attempt at a close-up of the handrails and scratched/rusted paint.

And the engine which quite frankly looks terrible but is barely visible anyway so I don´t really mind.

And lastly the co-driver / spotter in his place (but not painted yet)

Suggestions or just any feedback much appreciated

Thank you YELLOWBLADES I have a bunch of boyz which I haven´t finished painting (got some of most classes; burnas, shootas, bikers et.c.) but this is my first nearly complete scratchbuild and my first/only heavy support vehicle. I do however have three bikes on the workbench and some ideas for my next battlewagon in the corner of my mind... so stay tuned

Made a little progress today. Touched up some spots I had missed previously but noticed once I had the pics to blow up and take a closer look at Then I painted all the bolts black and smeared a little resin sand here and there where I figured mud would accumulate and did some random paths along the deck which will (hopefully) be noticeable once I get round to doing a brown dry-brush for dirt. Just for the fun of it I put the gun and deffrolla in place and packed 20 boyz (which will all be (re)painted soon I hope) on the thing to give a better perspective on the scale of this wagon. I hope you like it so far, however this is still only about half way done I reckon.

Allright, so this is what I have so far. I got the reddish tone I was going for alright and I´m happy with the dirty dusty look like it ha been driving on a sandy surface which is why all the paint on the outer side is always flaked from the front. It´s still missing a few details and some finishing touches but this is pretty much what it´s going to look like. I´m happy with how it has turned out being my first attempt at a complete build and paint job
Please do tell me what you think is bad, what is good, any suggestions related to any thing really

Paintjob pretty much done, some details needed.

Just a little update here... I found a little free time and painted my mob of 16 sluggaboys and added two glyphs to the battlewagon. I have yet to paint and place the two skorchas I´m putting on either set of tracks along with a few other details to finish off the build. I know this pic is´nt very good quality but you should get the impression
Comments and questions appreciated

Reminds me of a really big mobile weapons platform. Love it.

So I´ve halted the finishing touches on my battlewagon due to DEFF DREAD!!!WAAAAAGH!
It probably isn´t a proper WIP as I knocked the whole thing together in one go so I will simply show you the current state. It just needs to be riveted and painted.
It´s made from all sorts of random bits such as a vitamin tube for the torso, some lego bits, card and earpins... a proper heap of junk in an orky fashion
I opted for a close combat oriented weapon setup with a rockit launcha for some range and then a power claw and two skorchas
He is slightly over scaled I think and would fit on a 100mm base but I won´t be playing any tournaments so that shouldn´t be an issue.
I hope you like it

First a front view. I wouldn´t want to have to stand up to this thing

Then a side view for the rockit launcha and the right hand skorcha.

Rear right, skewed exhaust pipe, some worky bit underneath it, the fuel tank and leg setup.

Rear left, you can see the valve things on the fuel tank for the skorchas.

Top left...

Top right...

And the pretty face... WAAAAGH!

I got around to base it black (I got a satin black, should have gotten straight matte black but it´s no biggie) and drybrushed with silver and I think this just might be getting somewhere. This is still my first walker type scratch build so any and all comments are welcome

Slapped some base colors on the Deff Dread... I have yet to rivet it and give it a final touch.
I made this Deff Dread just as an experiment and to be able to play him for laughs with my friends.
Any and all suggestions welcome

Wow, I love your Battlewagon, it gives the feeling of Construction Vehicle on bonkers!

If I had a dollar for every dollar I spent I'd have all my money back.

That Dred is an amazing scratch build! Can you post a pic of Dred next to a boy? I'm having a hard time with context for his scale!

Oh and that wear on the railing of the wagon is brilliant. Nicely done!

Thank you Gymnogyps
I really had no idea how big he should be but I figured the torso should house a grot or ork in a fairly tight "cockpit" and then scaled the legs and arms to fit that.
His stance is rather wide though, he fits on a 100mm base which I will make for him, but I believe he should stand on a 60mm base...
Anyway here is a pic for scale reference

Battlewagon very nearly finished
Still missing the co-driver on top, some final details and some grots or boys operating the cannon but now featuring twin-linked big shootas and "EAT DIZ"
Hope you like

These make me happy.

Thanks for the scale shot. Bigger than the official size, sure, but I think it works perfectly. What mek would build a scrawny stock model, when he could improve it and make it more beefy instead? LOL

Thank you for your comments Gymnogyps

I picked out some spots in white to do a black and yellow dogtooth and checker patterns. The jaw and lid on topI´ll keep white but give them a black wash and some weathering.
Also I am going to try and make the exhaust pipe look glowing hot... we´ll see how that goes

Well now, I got around to paint some checks and dogtooths... nothing much to say, hope you like

I free-handed the patterns as I think they should look like they were painted by an Ork, not perfect but good enough for gameplay

Awesome, big pincers equals more death!
One thing I would say is that you need more rivets, I'm also not sure on using hair to represent smoke, I think anyone that plays ors would regonise it from a mile off.

Perhaps they should be more smoke coloured?

It needs to be riveted, I agree. I´m just looking for a suitable stuff to make them out of... soon
But the hair should actually represent small tongues of flame. If you have a better idea I would be glad to hear it
Perhaps some fluffy stuff to actually represent smoke? hmmm...
And on the topic of smoke, I was thinking of making smoke come out of the exhaust on the back.
Twist some wool and spray it black?

Did a little more wear and tear in the form of scratched paint. Also tried to make the exhaust look red glowing hot. Still needs to be riveted and some more.

I decided to make something slightly different and do a Biker Boss. I took the chassis from a wartrak which is just slightly bigger than that of a bike (the front and at least) and made some basic forks and wheel arch from legos and card. The plan is to mount a big and mean plate on the front forks and then some big guns on the rear wheel arch, a big fat exhaust and a trophy rack. I will most likely make him count as a Wazdakka Gutsmek Only real mod on the boss himself is I cut off the leftt hand choppa, re-aligned the arm and made some custom handlebars to fit. It shall be interesting to see how this turns out

Some pics of what I have so far:
