1.) How do you get that look on the Warscythe blade and other similarly colored parts? It looks sweet and I haven't been able to do it yet.
2.) If you're unhappy with the GW model, just buy a single Lychguard figure from eBay, as well as an Immortal head and viola, you have Obyron for ~10 dollars. It's that easy folks and he looks great!
I'm not sure how the OP got the Warscythe blade effect but I have a pretty decent method to get similar effects.
Firstly I cover whatever I want to have the effect in Mithril silver(don't know the new colour's name sorry) in a generous amount but not thick, then I wait for 30 seconds
If I want a green effect I mix 1:2 Dark Angels Green: Scorpion Green, I then add this to the damp Mithril silver, only applying it from base of the blade to the tip of the blade, up the blade in as little stroke as possible, it's crucial that you stay in one direction otherwise the effect won't look right at the end. Let that dry
Place blue tack where you don't want the darker colour to be and apply your desired colour to the blade, remove blue tack and add gloss to shine the blade, voila nice shifting effect on the blade.
What's that? Carnifex have 4 wounds and my Emperor's Champion on'y has 3 attacks o.0 SHOOOT WITH PISTOL! CHARGE! one dead Carnifex...
TWO MORE!?! lemme' reload.
This piece was painted by one of our artists from Nuke Arts studio, Nutty
She practiced the blending technique called Feathering on a sprue first, until she could get it right, then moved on to the blade.
Color used, in order
Black -> Dark angel green -> Moot Green -> Dark Angel green -> Moot Green -> white -> Dark Angel green -> Moot Green
There are many ways to achieve this effect.
1. Feathering from black -> Green -> light green -> white (this is what Nutty used on this project) 2. Glaze technique, using black primer and white paint to create a gradation first. Then, add a thin glaze of green. (this is what I (nuke) use) 3. Wet Blending
Also - you can mix techniques. What I normally do is to start with black then jump to bright green and white. Then glaze with dark angel green repeatedly until it's smooth then repeat the process again.
Otherwise..... airbrush + making tape. But I since the shape is quite complicated, It's easier to hand paint the blade in this case (for those who can)

It's just a show, I should really just relax... It's just a show, I should really just relax... It's just a show, I should really just relax... It's just a show, I should really just relax...
It looks awesome, the only thing i noticed was that its arms remind me of bender's from futurama. But it looks great, and that group shot looks even better.
