Hello I have been running the below list with some success for the last 6-7 games I have played. I enjoy it but am looking for any advice on how to make it more competitive and possible options for replacing Skarsnik if I were to play in a tourney that didn't allow SC. Thanks for any help.

Skarsnik - 275
Night Goblin Great Shaman - L4, Dispel Scroll - 200

Night Goblin Shaman - L2 - 85
Night Goblin Big Boss - BSB + Banner of Discipline - 70
Night Goblin Big Boss - GW - 34
Night Goblin Big Boss - GW -34

58 Night Goblins - FC, Spears,Netters - 249
58 Night Goblins - FC, SpearsNetters - 249
58 Night Goblins - FC, Spears,Netters - 249
20 Night Goblins - Bows - 60
20 Night Goblins - Bows - 60
12 Fanatics - 300
5 Spider Riders - 65
5 Spider Riders - 65
Mangler Squig -65
Mangler Squig - 65
6 River Trolls - 270

Total= 2395

I typically deploy my three hordes in the centre and screen my flanks with the spiders and archers. I try to hold back the manglers and trolls to hit the enemy after they have charged through my fanatic screen. This has worked well against armies with minimal shooting but is more difficult against heavy shooting armies or armies that can easily pull out the fanatics and shoot them.

Any thoughts on what I could do to make my army more competitive?

Cheers

The only thing that seems odd is no war machines..Doom Divers for example

As mentioned, there is a lack of war machines. Maximise on spear chukkas, rock lobbas and doom divers to thin out ranks before your opponent gets to you. As you have no orcs you have very little hitting power. Those 20 archers will be better off combining with a normal gobbo big boss with the spider banner and being stuck in the centre of your army IMO.

Never used this guy, I'd run these two in his place

Goblin Warboss, GW, Crown of Command, Armour of Fortune.

Goblin Warboss Light Armour, Giant Wolf, Sword of Anti Heroes, Enchanted Shield, Dragonbane Gem. Run this one in your trolls or at the unit with the flmaing banner to protect your trolls. I even use him to tarpit Bloodthirsters!

Night Goblin Great Shaman - L4, Dispel Scroll - 200
Night Goblin Shaman - L2 - 85

Fine, no issues here.

Night Goblin Big Boss - BSB + Banner of Discipline - 70
Hmmm ok, try and keep him out of combat or with the general behind the lines only entering unit when needed.

Night Goblin Big Boss - GW - 34
Night Goblin Big Boss - GW -34

Fine again, adds a bit of damage to the goblin units.

58 Night Goblins - FC, Spears,Netters - 249
58 Night Goblins - FC, SpearsNetters - 249
58 Night Goblins - FC, Spears,Netters - 249

A little big for my tastes, I'd run them 48

20 Night Goblins - Bows - 60
20 Night Goblins - Bows - 60

Great support units, hold them back and hit the flanks of what your 50-60 strong mobs are fighting. 20 NG's ina flank is painful for CR!

12 Fanatics - 300

Too many for me but thats just my taste. I'd have 8

5 Spider Riders - 65
5 Spider Riders - 65

I prefer Wolf Riders as they're quicker but these are nice too, plus the mounts are posion attakcs so not bad trade off.

Mangler Squig -65
Mangler Squig - 65

Good units, protect them as they're likely to be pooped by Eagles, Razorgor, Harpies ect (all of which are cheaper then the Mangler)

6 River Trolls - 270

If you're going Trolls, go common, they don't waste precious Rare % and are cheaper.

So IF you go for the changes that I suggest you then have enough points for

Doom Diver
Rock Lobba
and if you can cobble together another 7 points (3 NG's)
3 Spear Chukka's

Now that is one hell of an army. If your doing goblins I do agree with Brother Malleus, but I would take more Spider Riders. I play goblins on the odd occasion and found them very useful. Night Goblins maybe cheaper, but have worse armour saves than normal goblins. I've never played passed the Battle for Skull Pass with the gobbos but I've seen that giants come in handy when playing Orc and Goblins. Doom Divers and Rock Lobbas are really good
