What I was given:
pBaldur (the weaker one, I think that's the abbreviation)
Worldwarden
Worldwatcher
6 Reeves
5 Ravagers
3 Shifting Stones
Lord of the Feast
Sentry Stone & 3 Mannakins
Ravager Whitemane
War Wolf
Victor Pendrake
Gundrun the wanderer
swamp gobber bellows crew
I know nothing of the game system (although I was interested before), nor anything about the units other than what I learned on a warmachine wiki I used to look them up via pics. It seems I have a level 2 synergy with baldur and the stones, which seems cool. I like the idea of themed lists getting bonuses. What List/points value would y'all suggest so I can look up a local game?

You are probably going to want to pick up 1-2 more beasts. Firstly, Megalith is pretty much auto-include with Baldur. They just work SO well together it is always worth it. I also really like the Woldguardian, but he is optional with Baldur. Personally, I really like the Woldwyrd too, and not taking a Stalker seems odd, but I don't really play Baldur and theoretically he doesn't need a Stalker since he loves the constructs.
Assuming you pick up Megalith, I would probably put this together based on what you have:
Baldur the Stonecleaver
Woldwatcher
Megalith
Woldwarden
Shifting Stones
Tharn Ravagers (Leader and 3 Grunts)
Lord of the Feast
Tharn Ravager White Mane
War Wolf
I am not 100% sold on Ravagers, but they do clear light infantry well, and the White Mane really adds a lot to them, while being pretty neat in his own right. The Lord of the Feast is also great at killing infantry, and allows for some really neat movement tricks. The Shifting Stones are fantastic, in a really easy to miss way when you start, since they allow for fury management, healing and model teleportation tricks, as well as sneaky things like shooting your own model with an AoE to hit things near it, etc. The three beasts are all very tough, with Megalith being able to heal the Warden in B2B every turn, and both offering Geomancy for squeezing more spells out of Baldur, which is great for spamming Stone Spikes to get rid of infantry and cycling Stone Skin around various models.
You will want to read this FAQ for info on how some model's rules interact, as well as what the hell cycling is too
http://privateerpressforums.com/showthread.php?42598-FAQ-Circle-Orboros
Good luck man! Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, and the Unit Attachment for the Shifting Stones is fantastic. I would pull the War Wolf for that man if you pick him up.
Sentry Stone and Manikins are also something I want to try, but I have heard they are not easy for new players to really get the hang of, which is why I left them out.

Pick up the plastic heavy kit, a Gorax, and eKrueger. This will give you a solid starting point for learning the Faction.
Also the epic incarnations are not a more "powerful" version just a different version of the caster in the time line. Epic does not = stronger.

Thanks for the advice guys! I went and grabbed the 2010 cardset today... But now I'm seeing that a new edition is coming out soon... Should I return the deck and wait a while?
I know what a megalith is now o_0 and yes, he will be the first purchase once I know what all these funny numbers mean.
Silly question but, you add the warlocks +6 to the points total you are playing? So a 25 point Baldur list would really have 31?
Also that FAQ website seems really useful and I'll be back to it often... The shifting of buffs is boggling... But it'll come along. Coming from WoC I'm more interested in the reeves... Can someone help me with the combined range attack ability? I've found differing descriptions eslewhere

Yhe Beast points from your caster are in addition to the points of the game. You are playing with an extra 6 points that can only be spent for you Battle Group i,e beast under your casters control. So you will be playing with 41 points in a 35 point game.
For combined range say with 2 models. model A combines with model B, both models must have LOS and range to the target. Instead of having two attack, you make one, lets say model A is leading. Model B gives up his shot to make model A's shot gain +1 to hit and +1 to power for each model participating. Since 2 models ar participating, A and B, the shot gains +2 to hit and + 2 to the power.
If you have a 10 man unit that shoots POW 10 at RAT 6 you can make 5 combined shots at POW 12 and RAT 8. You can divide this as you choose also. 1 single pow 20 shot with +10 to RAT and so on .......

Wow, that seems pretty sweet.
I also noticed that a lot of the constructs are open palmed, and can two handed toss things... This really appeals to me. Big things tossing small things into other small things killing them both. Can you throw your own units? (I'm thinking mannakins since they can regrow)
Also can you push your own units? I was reading a report where a guy popped woldwardens wild growth while adjacent to baldur, then walked around him and knocked him into the forest to satisfy his Forest walk requisite?

You can push, slam, throw attack, and shoot your own stuff. Sometime your own dudes get in the way and you gotta take em out.

 silly warmbloods.
So this is what I'm thinking for a 35 point list:
pBaldur (+6)
Tier 4: (25)
Megalith
Druid & Woldstalkers
Druid & Woldstalkers
Shifting Stones
Sentry Stone & Mannakins
This leaves 16 points left for personalization.
1: Spamming Woldwatchers/Woldwyrds @ 4 points each. Makes best use of tier 4, probably 3 watchers and one wyrd so all my beasts would have deployment tricks. Since they come in at the same price I'm sure some compairisons have been made... What's the community consensus?
2: Trade two of those slots in for a woldwarden. Bigger, stronger, better. But at twice the cost, is he bringing twice the benifit? Does he become redundant with megalith already included?
3. Trade in 3 of those for a woldguardian, a UA for the stones and either another set of shifting stones of a solo
thanks for the help, getting a few games under the belt will undoubtably answer some questions and give me many more.

Try the regular Druids. They can drop clouds to block LOS and 1 of them can use counter magic to protect you from spells. 2 units of sentry stones is not unreasonable as well.

Got my first game in... More like a tutorial really. Was cool, I ran baldur, argus, wwarden, and wwatcher against scorcha and a couple of jacks. Ended up losing the game but gaining a ton of knowledge about the rules mechanics. After the game I was able to trade off the ravager and minion models I wasn't fond of for a stones ua and stoneward&wstalkers unit, score!
Now I just need to aquire the megalith, another stoneward unit and fill the last two points and I'll be done with pbaldur 35... Except to maybe get the wguardian much further down the road.
As for the last 2 points of pbaldur 35, I've been nudged towards sending stones by quite a few people, but I would also like to include a solo... Just because I feel I'm missing out on a unit type more than anything. However on my first inspection Blackclad wayfarer doesn't seem that rocking and I am not sure what the other two pointer did... Though on the last two?
pBaldur
Megalith
Wwarden
Wwatcher
Stoneward & Wstalkers
Stoneward & Wstalkers
Sentry Stone & Mannakins
Shifting Stones w/ attached Stonekeeper
(2 extra points)

Brief check in, Got Mega and the other stalkers... Sitting at a respectable 1-5 record, lol. Blackclad is ok, but would be way better if you could use his special attack and his special ability in the same turn... So I guess it'll be stones for me afterall...

There's no new edition coming up. PP doesn't release books in the same manner some companies do. Books like Domination, Wrath, Colossals, ect., are actually expansions which add something to all the factions of that game. (So Domination, for instance, had new models for all the Hordes factions that aren't in the faction books). The 2010 deck is the latest one and contains everything originally from the first edition of the game and should get you up to speed. (Newer models are either in the books, and come with the card, so aren't in the decks).
And stuff.
