So, I am planning my next 40k purchase. I am leaning towards either sisters of battle or necrons. Something about alien robots and naked chicks in walkers just does it for me I think.
So what is the general consensus?

What's your playstyle?
Which models do you like?
Are you willing to use metal models (for sisters. most of them are metal minis IIRC)?

I don't mind metal, in fact I prefer it.
Play style seems to be all or nothing! Run at em with numbers.

It's next to impossible, or at least REALLY expensive to get models of Nuns-With-Guns.
Go with the Necrons.

Sister of battles have old models and have a new pseudo codex which is pretty awful. You can build small armies using the new codex but they struggle.

I say go with Necrons, they are new codex with great capabilities. Can be for fun players or competitive players. They are shooty and you can really have different play styles with them. In the shooty spectrum. hope this helps

Black Templars are the best Space Marine Chapter out of all the Space Marines. They are the most fanatical marines out there. They are on an endless, eternal crusade for the god emperor. AND they get in the face of the enemy. Thats the way to get things done.

Thanks, yeah no one else in my group of gamers has either army so any would have been an option but something about both calls to me. I might have to put in a request for birthday and Xmas and get both! Necrosis first though just invade they bring out a new sisters codex. Just have to see what 6th ed rules bring us too.

Personally, as much as I love the Sisters, I'd go with the Crons because of 2 reasons: 1. Their codex is new and won't be changed much for the next decade. The sister's might change tomorrow into an awesome fighting machine, but even it does you'll likely be.. 2. Spending a lot of money on an army you can play now, and then come an update to the brutally old codex (it's now the most outdated one in the 40k universe) and then spend more money on models in the future that either don't exist now, or you won't think to buy under the current edition. Lastly, as a sort of afterthought, I'd wait until July for 6 Edition to come out and see what rules have changed. You may be inspired to revisit an army or be inspired to build an entirely new one. -Edit: Holy God Emperor I'm tired. Way too many mistakes in that last post, I'm going to to sleep immediately! Need a sit rep now!!
