How does this work does it take away the stubborn granted via ranks? Essentially is Steadfast via Superior ranks counted as a bonus from ranks, if so does that mean that the Banner of the Lady takes it away from the enemy?

Nope it does not break steadfast

The general consenus (since GW hasn't ruled on this in the FAQ's) is that it does the same thing in 8E that it did in 7E - that is, remove the enemy's rank bonus from his total Combat Resolution. Thus it is of very little use in 8E, especially for its cost.

The only time I'd consider it would be against Skaven, because it would negate their Strength In Numbers rule.

Rank Bonus /= Ranks.
