I am looking for the last item for my army.
I want a gunship that can transport my Assalt troops and then support them with fire.

Any suggestions

Stormeagle if people lets you use FW models. Only BA and GK can use stormraven. Stormtalon can only go with deep striking unit (no transport space).

Incorrect.
The stormtalon is not allowed to escort a deep striking unit, the escort rule specifiaclly says that

attaching it to a outflanking unit on the other hand...

So the wording of escort rule, "Can be attached to a unit of deep strikers, and will appear within 6" of the deepstriking unit ." Is considered incorrect/somehow can be misread? I'm seriously confused.

The point is, Vanilla Marines don't have an official gunship similar to the stormraven (and stormeagle is FW unless otherwise corrected.)

It was talked about being "Can be attached to Deep Strikers" somewhere, but the real rule is something like "Can be attached to unit coming from reserves, except by Deep Striking, arrives within 6 inches".

Until I can acquire the actual white dwarf for the escort craft rule, I'm assuming that statement from http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/451200.page as that is the closest thing of the stormtalon's rules.

But any who, unless someone else can add on to the answer f mine, I think OP's question has been answered.

Edit: Nevermind, though the OP's question is still answered despite my outdated information.

Luide is right. Not Myrrodin. Sorry,
Edit: I do have the WD. I'm not just making it up. The thread you referenced is wrong.

Oh well, the answer still stands, though knowing GW, the stormtalon rules could be changed once the vanilla codex is updated.

As said, until Vanilla Marines get a codex update, there's no codex official gunship transport.

If you wanted to get fiddly, doesn't Khan give you outflank? You could outflank the assault marines with the gunship as escort. Alternatively, put shrike in the unit, outflank them, and then have the gunship escorting. And it is a codex official gunship, the WD says the rules are legit for the codex.

Yes he does. Though yes the storm talon is a official gunship, based on what OP asked, "I want a gunship that can transport my Assalt troops and then support them with fire."

I assumed, Storm raven, since it is a gunship that can transport units and support fire. Storm Talon can be a gunship and do supporting fire, but can't transport any units. There's no model in the Vanilla codex that can do what he's asking for.

Its cool, everyone makes mistakes. As said, unless OP likes to ask questions, I think its pretty much answered.

The Caestus ram can carry 10 models, either power armor or Termies (don't think it can carry jumppacks). It is a FW model but is Warhammer 40k approved. It does not carry a lot of fire power but is pretty tough.

I would use the word gunship to describe a landraider. Which can hold assault termies.
This will be the deathstar you are looking for.

Even though its 40k approved, some would have issue with playing FW units. There are often arguments about that on here.
