Hey guys,
So with the recent GW price increase (again..) I'm thinking about getting more into Warmachine.
I have the two player battle box and would like to play Khador. For those who don't know what the Khador half of the box includes, it is;
Warcaster Kommander Sorscha
Juggernaut Heavy Warjack
Destroyer Heavy Warjack
Man-O-War Shocktrooper Unit (5 models)
My question is what should I get to expand this to a playable army? What points total is a 'playable army' also?
Thanks!
Chris

I am just starting out with Khador, too, and have had roughly those same questions just recently, so I can tell you what answers I got and/or found myself.
1. A 'playable army' for starting games is actually the two 'Jacks and Sorsha. That's only 11 points, but enough to learn the rules with, in case you haven't already. After that, the usual games played at my LGS range from 15 to 50 (with most games being 25 or 35, as far as I have been told). I do only play 15 for the time being, though - the game is hard enough to learn as it is, no need to try and manage even more units and synergies.
2. To get to a good 15 points list, you need to add 4 points if you take the two 'Jacks with Sorsha, or 2 if you take the MoW and the Destroyer, so while most people told me to buy a unit of Widowmakers, I decided to go with two 2-point-solos instead in order to get some variety at this points level. I chose the Widowmaker marksman and Kell Bailoch for that purpose, but I was tempted to just try two Manhunters instead. There are probably more very useful options, too.
3. To get to 25 points from there, you'll only need a single point (because the MoW bring 9 more points to the party already). I bought Reinholdt simply because I love the model and the fluff, but the Khadoran War Dog is probably a better choice. I'll definitely get one of those, too.
Hope I could help a bit.

1) Khador book/card deck. Always good to see actual stats of your entire army.
2) New caster. It may just be me, but I really dislike pSorcha. Too much of a 1 trick pony for my tastes. Khador has a lot better to offer than her.
3) Infantry. As good as multiwound infantry are, they're low model count and can get their teeth kicked in by weapon masters, making all those damage boxes you paid for useless. You'll want some variety and you'll want some shooting.

Iwould go for a unit like widowmakers, from my experience they are a must have in most khador armys (especially ones like sorshcas)
|
Khador 75p
Menoth 35p
Circle 25p
Legion 25p |

Thanks for the responses guys - helped me out a lot! I like the look of Widowmakers!
@Surtur what other caster would you recommend?
Edit: I'm also slightly confused about the points costs. On the stat cards included in the box, what abbreviation is it for the points? I'm assuming it's PC, but if that's the case then just the Destroyer and The Juggernaut both come to 16 points plus Sorscha (5?) which is more than someone said it was in this thread? Maybe I'm just being a big noob... sorry if I am lol.

Actually, the warcaster doesn't cost anything ; they instead give you a discount in the form of "free" points (WJ, or warjack points) you can only spend on their battlegroup, that is to say warjacks.
Thus, Juggernaut + Destroyer amounts to 16 points, but since Sorscha's card indicates +5 WJ, you can deduct 5 points.
Regarding casters, you can't go wrong with Vlad1 and Butcher1. Vlad makes everything more reliable with his signature spell Signs and Portents and is a tough fighter on his own ; Butcher has very nice buffs for all his army, among which the infamous Iron Flesh.

Butcher also has a tendency to WRECK FACE.
It really depends on what you want out of your army. Karchev lets you go jack heavy, Butcher lets you go beat face heavy, Irusk lets you go troop heavy, eSorcha gives you a nasty feat turn, Old Witch for spells, Harkevich for shooting, Zerkova for losing, I mean you have so many options!
But seriously, if you're gonna run Zerkova, run Sylys Wynsharr with her. Makes her a good caster.

What's so bad about Zerkova? I have read her rules, and her spell list looks quite awesome, actually. Not easy to play, but if done right, I think she could be devastating. What am I missing?

Let's see.... You have 7+9+9 = 25 points right there. If you want to just go with units to make the existing force better on the cheap, I would add Widowmakers 4pts & Full unit of Kayazy + Underboss 10 pts and fill the last 1 point out with war dog. One thing to keep in mind though is that most competition Khador players run only one jack at anything less than 35 points BUT with the META shift to a lot of infantry killing stuff you will probably see that shift back to more heavy metal soon.
That would look like this
pSorcha 5 jack points which means your army can be a total of 40 points at 35 point game level.
Destroyer
Juggs
MOW shocks
Kayazy + Underboss
Widowmakers
war dog.
Now that is a decent 35 point army for a minimum investment and you get 3 of the best model/units we have that go in most competitive lists. Now you need to remember that it does have a weakness in that you do not have any magical weapons in that list so if you run up against a cryx army running a lot of them you will probably lose, but mostly it is a solid list to start with.
