An Imperial Guardman Infantry Squad can take krak grenades for 10 points (1 for every model for the whole squad).
But Infantry Squads can also "combine" with other infantry squads. If this is true, can a 5-combined squad of 50 for example have 50 krak grenades for 10 points? (since you can't pinpoint the 10 whole have grenades out)
There's been extended tricks before, like giving the Regimental Command upgrades (carapace etc) to Advisors and Bodyguards, as they were added and not part of the original 5.

Well you don't blob up until deployment, so when creating your list you would have to buy the nades for everyone. Otherwise you'd have to somehow designate which 10 guys out of 50 had the nades.

The regimental advisors getting carapace armor was never really a trick, since it stated you could do it under the army list entry. But yeah, skarousis had it spot on.

If you combine the squads, then 10 guardsmen of 50 will have grenades.

That's not very WYSIWYG if you can't tell what models have upgraded equipment in a squad.

This is GRENADES we're taking about. When you have to buy tiny upgrades, unless you use the same list every time you won't always be able to afford them.

People normally don't care about having grenades modelled because the whole unit has them. If only certain models in the unit have them, and the grenade effect only applies to those specific models, then you're going to have to have some way for your opponent to tell those models apart from the rest of the unit.

They come with those tiny plastic textured cylinders for a reason lol I look at it like this, I don't force people to pay for an upgrade like grenades if they have them modeled. However, if you have only 10 models in a 50 man squad, I want to know where they are so I can best position vehicles to prevent those grenades from hitting me.
