I do Relize that this is probliably WAY over 2000 points but i have had the time to count it up and this was the ball park which i assumed that it was , So I could use your Critizism as well as suggestions to change to this list . This was built for an Apocalypse Tournment that is going to take place in a week , The Expected Foes are Space Marines , Necrons and CSM . MY Allies are going to be 5 other Guard Players 2 are bringing Massed Tank Squadrens 2 Infantry Battalions and the Other is taking Mech ( similar to mine ) The plan was for the Full Mech to go into reserve aside from the morters then use Flank March

In Terms of Apoclypse units i have a Warhound Titan with Turbolaser , Plasma Annhlator

and x2 Thunderbolt Fighters armed with Armoured cockpit and 4 HellStrike Missiles per craft ....


And one more thing ,,,,,,,,,,if you didn't guess i like plasma

The Enemy is taking at least 5 Super Heavies

1. I am fairly certain this is illegal? Do you have any infantry squads? You need at least 2 per platoon.

2. I do not care for plasma sponsons except for on the Eradicator, which might like the extra AP at times. I just find it to be overkill 90% of the time and a waste of points for what it does the other 10% of the points. Scrap them and you can buy another vet squad with a plasma gun, a CCS with 3 plasma guns, or almost 2 infantry squads so your platoon is legal.

3. I am assuming you are using FW rules to use the chimeras and whatnot, so I will just say HK missiles are hit or miss, I like them simply because I can fire a volley of str 8 shots on turn one and potentially pop a transport. Either way you should go big or go home with them, either HK missiles everywhere, or scrap them and get a lot of points for not buying them.

4. Mortars generally aren't the best HW, unless you are fighting a soft enemy with low morale, if you are fighting anyone else ML, LC, AC, or HB are better, IMO in that order from best to worst, although it depends.

5. What are you planning on getting out of your CCS, MOO can't move and fire his template which will largely make the plasma guns a waste (toss them in a vet squad) and the vox-caster is literally useless unless you give them to your other squads. You need to have a VC on each side of the order (the sender and reciever) to benefit from it.

Overall just try to trim some of the excess off and you will get a lot of points back to use on another tank or a manticore or some vets or something.

Nope infantry squads are separate from platoons and are counted as independent squads.

So for example as troops you could have
PCS
Infantry Squad x3
PCS
Infantry Squad x2
Vet Squad (independent from platoons)
Vet Squad (independent from platoons)

But not
PCS
Vets x3 (part of platoon)
PCS
Vets x2 (part of platoon)

Check at the top of page 96 in your codex, it plainly tells you the platoon organization at the top, and infantry squads are a separate entry from veteran squads.

1) Vets can't be in a platoon. 2) HK missiles are bad. 3) take out the vox, give the vets another plasma.

BS3 and ML isn't a good combo. You don't have the killpower of a LC or the shots of AC. Pick one and go with it.

If you put sponsons on a LRBT, they should be low-cost, not plasma.

Everyone else has already explained that veteran squads aren't part of a platoon. You can find the full list of units authorized in a platoon on page 96.

The platoon standard is a pretty pointless piece of wargear for Imperial Guard, especially a shooty army. The power fist on the company commander likewise can be dispensed with. Never use pintle stormbolters. They are inferior to heavy stubbers.

ccs 155
pcs 80x2 = 160
veteran squads 135x3 = 405
Chimera 80x4 = 320
Infantry squad 70x3 = 210
heavy weapon squad 60x3 =180
vendetta 130x3 = 390
devil dog 120x3 = 360
Russ 205x2 = 410
2590 so far, not counting the kasrkin or destroyer. You have to revise your troops section (simply dropping a platoon command squad would do it) and trim about a thousand points off.

Ok let me explain this slighlty better , it didn't come across as it should've , I have 1 Standard Troops choice being one infantry platoon i call the vets a platoon because thats a similar real life formation , i run that group of four in a platoon style formation because i have a knack for modern combat . So technically i have 5 Troop Choice , 1 being yoru standard infantry platoon ( PCS , Infantry squads and Heavy weapons squads ) and my "mock" platoon of 3 vet squads and 1 PCS for them --- sorry for the confusion

As for the powerfist and Standards in the platoons the blood Angels ( Space marines on enemy side are Black Templar , Vanillar Marines and Blood Angels ) like to deep strike all troops via drop pods with homing beacons , Standards on the platoons is to add a wound realy to survive a little longer in CQC .

The problem is that you cannot take the PCS without two or more infantry (BS 3, not vets) squads. You could switch out the PCS for a CCS and use it like a PCS keeping it in close proximity to the vets and having it work alongside them (would make sense too since the CCS is made up of vets the PCS isn't).

So instead of going
PCS
Vets
Vets
Vets
PCS
Infantry
Infantry
Infantry

You could go
CCS (in addition to your CCS HQ)
Vets
Vets
Vets
PCS
Infantry
Infantry
Infantry

Thus you would have two HQ choices and four troop choices. The CCS can't score, but overall it would better represent a veteran platoon command squad than a conventional PCS.

That doesn't work. A PCS can only appear as part of an infantry platoon. An infantry platoon must contain no less than two infantry squads. If you have two PCS in your army you must also have at least four infantry squads.

Ah Apocalypse, spending hours in massive battles where hundreds of models are killed and several super heavy vehicles are destroyed. Also, no problem on the Vet advice, I try to run a vaguely fluffy army and since I run carapace guardsmen (like the look of it, so I am willing to sink 140+ points) my army has to run independent vet squads, so instead of my army being an entire company it is more like an armoured squadron supporting a platoon of heavy mechanized infantry, the CCS still follows CCS rules, but for all intents and purposes I play my army as a platoon.

Ahh so you conduct your Veterans in a similar way ? Then youi might be able to help with this , is it worth getting the Taliban Captain so i can outflank with that force ? ( i think is Real Name is cpt. Al ' Rehan )

I have never tried Al'Rahem, he seems interesting, I just can't think of a time I would want to outflank with an entire platoon.
