Regular codex SM are quite good at it.
Vulkan makes your melta and flamer weapons twin-linked, which is really helpful when your army is about dropping in close, where those kinds of weapons are used.
Codex: SM can also field the Master of the Forge to allow you to take a bunch of Dreadnoughts.
A friend of mine has a really good army like this. Check out his reports from the Conflict GT and Brothers Grim one-day tournaments last year:

the only point to make SM better is because vulkan.
if you take blood angels, your assault marines can take a drop pod 'for free' and this will spare you on like 4 drop pods 140 point, so that means an extra dreadnought

Vanilla marines as the pods contain 12 peoples worth.
It would well for blood angels if it were easy to drop priests.
Space wolves could do with 10 grey hunters with a wolf guard in a drop pod.
Otherwise vanilla marines have all that is needed.
Several things that can do with it, like a 6 dread list or a vulkanised list or both.
Pedro can work well with sternguard in drop pods.
Though all codices can get drop pods to work. Even dark angels can get some benefit from a few, though it is token gesture supported by deathwing.

I have to run master of the forge or i can use ironclads which is my main anti vehicle or anything big and nasty ... but with the new FOC at 2500 points i could do that ... and i have LBs in all the drop pods cause i also run vanguard and termis in the higher point version of the list and also give me some tactical flexibility for what goes where and what counters what

for reserve fast actions squads you could use bikers. they have the speed to get in position from a board edge and you can put a melta or two in the unit so it can deal with tanks and theToughness 5 makes them able to tangle most infintry for a while, (other than stupid grey knights) depending on how many points or FOC slots left you could make a bike squad all CC maybe with flamer then take a single melta+multimelta attack bike for AT depending on what your army might need. You could do scout bikers as well as they should be able to outflank giving you more options but with risk Or Vangaurd vets as they can assault on the deep strike and as your dropping a lot of Pods give a couple the beacons so you have a couple of places that you can land safe if a threat happens to be near one. Also people tend to forget about the pods once things get started.

Land speeders or storm talons.
If you have locator beacons on your pods, MM/ HF speeders can drop down for close support. Alternatively typhoon/ HB speeders can find a clear spot on the table to zoom in from/on and shoot things wherever.
Stormtalons are there to keep the skies clear and strafe targets of opportunity.

Space Marines can do Pods best thanks to Vulkan; Pods with meltas and flamers go hand in hand. Add twin-linked nastyness from Vulkan and you're talking some serious evilness.
Blood Angels do not need Pods, you can descent of angels and scatter 1D6" and keep mobility. Only downside to this is you can only keep half your army in reserve.

While I've not run a full drop pod list (I just don't own that many pods) I have ran in 5th a very aggressive psudo drop list and it would work alright.
For my first drop as I only owned 3 pods I landed two Ironclads side by side or near enough, on a flank the key is that a single squad in the enamies grill will die but two squads or more which limit there incoming fire by being off to the side will last much longer
I the had a landraider with either Assault Termies or a command squad/honor guard (i've done both) Rushing up to the same general area, Again to saturate one spot as much as possible. The either an assault squad in the third. or an empty pod I bought for some objective holding unit that lands empty just o get the initial half + 1 drops and to contest an objective I don't plan on trying to take.
The problem most people have with drop armies is they try to lad either in the middle of the opponents front line. or they spread out. This allows your opponent to pick and chose who to engage and how as you will be at his mercy for the first assault.
The other thing a lot of players get tricked by is thinking that you have to spread out because you are to slow once the squad lands. While this is sort of true the fact your on foot is offset by the fact you started out in their face, and don't' have to walk across an empty field your wading though his lines from one side to the other.

I've found that Wolves work extremely well in pods. If you run a Logan Wing it's great, and if you'd rather mass GHs, it's still great.
They beg to be assaulted when you put them in front of your enemy, which is just playing into their strengths.

As i have said im running a Crimson fist drop pod list with heavy stern guard presence so i don't care really if im up in your face cause i intend on shooting the gak out of any unit i land in front of to the point that they wont have enough melee potential to hurt them. And NO im not going to run the Cheese wolves.

One thing you will have trouble with is a massed infintry mech list (one that has numbers in transports not facy squads in transports) this causes a problem as your initial wave will be stuck just breaking open all the cans to get to the uinside.

I know but i do have stuff to deal with cans. all of my sterguard vet squads are gonna have 3 combi meltas, two ironclads to deal with bigger cans, and a tech marine with a conversion beamer for those long distance targets, and pretty much every sergeant has melta bombs.

This can't happen. That puts you at 11 and the SW Drop Pod only holds 10. Unless I misunderstood you, you'd have to take 9 Grey Hunters and the Wolf Guard, but you don't get the extra special weapon slot from the GH.
Honestly, I really prefer the idea of Space Marines as a drop pod army simply because you can stick ICs with them, even with jump packs.

That was my point!
Space wolves can do drop pods well enough. However, 10 in a drop pod hurts both blood angels and space wolves, for lack of space for a priest and wolf guard respectively.
Sure there are ways around it, but it is a lot easier to use vanilla marines.
Given the OP said he is using Kantor, I am not sure why everyone now suggests different drop pod builds. None seem to actually criticise the suggestion rather they ignore it.
Kantor is awesome for drop pod lists. You can concentrate on sternguard, which are awesome in drop pods.
I dislike Iron clads in drop pods. They rely on landing and getting lucky with their first turn shots, then surviving and being in assault range in the second turn.
That is first first turn, melta and heavy flamer which is not that amazing, then being in melta range else hoping the enemy does not back away from the model with a big hammer.
Sternguard can easily soak up spare points and do the damage you are looking for.
I think the only issues are not being tabled, long range/mobility after the first turn and shooting down flyers. I would suggest allies or ADL with quadgun or stormtalons are the answer.

Only if i drop them near infantry and since they are iron clads they are f13 s13 b10 and they are meant to be dropped by vehicles instead of infantry.

Get rid of 1 drop pod (3 of your 5 will drop on turn one = 1 sternguard and 2 dreadnoughts or 2 stern/1 dread)
Drop Ironclad for regulard dreadnoughts (Ironclad is a waste of points IMO)
Gives you more points to play with. You could add in a fast attack choice and some upgrades with the spare points pretty easily.

If you already have a plan for how your going to drop your stuff 90% of the time I would leave a few locator beacons off of 2 or so of the pods that you more or less know will come down in the second wave. save you a couple of points but otherwise looks interesting.

Ironclads because they have 13 armor on front and sides and they are anti vehicle and thats what i want from them.
6 pods because everything except the scouts and the MOF is dropping in.

Locator beacons on all because i don't know what will go in first of where to and plus in high point versions of the list I run Vanguard vets and i want to give them a long leash so they can block charge lanes or stop a good ranged unit from shooting.
