Since standard vet squads can all have shotguns why cant those in a ccs?
Would you say in your opinion it'd be fair to give my ccs shotguns and use them only with other players consent? Seems reasonable to me...

I wouldn't see why they would use shotguns when they don't want to be in close combat at all. Though if your opponent allows, I suppose you could.

Since ccs's arnt for leadership anymore really I figured sticking them in a chimera and using them as a countercharge unit with a commissar, 2 power swords overall would be quite a neat idea (':

I thought the CCS is more for giving orders for platoon squads to benefit for certain situations.

Really? I thought they were used to drop 4 TL melta guns out of a Valkyrie

Go with pistols instead. You'll effectively have the same number of attacks...if there's any of them left by the time they get to attack. You'd probably have to have some bodyguards in there also. If I was going to make them be a countercharge unit, I'd probably do the following:

Commander with power weapon
1 flamer
3 laspistols
2 body guards
lord commissar with power weapon
priest with eviscerator (and shotgun)

That gives you 10 power weapon attacks and 19 regular attacks at I3 and 3 S6 chainfist-equivilant attacks, re-rollable to-hit on the charge. The problem is that it's also 325 points. Hell, 5 Ogryn, a LC with power weapon, and chimera is probably more effective, and only 30 points more expensive.

I'd stick with power blobs for melee guard.

And that squishy priest is targetable and probably will be. It'll usually take 4 Tac marines (who hit first) to take him down, which at least is a soak of hits! but for 60 points....

Ogryns on the other hand take 1 wound for every 10 Tac Marines. And they've got 3 wounds each.

I can keep a priest out of every melee I initiate with about a 85% certainty. I can have a 100% certainty if it's a powerblob.

Besides, the priest is really just there for the reroll to hits and to take a swipe or two at nearby vehicles anyway. He doesn't need to live.
