Hi All,

I was having a look on the forge world site at the Elysian Drop Troops, and was wondering if some one who has collected a few of these units (troop, command, special weapons squads etc.) could let me know how much variation there is with the legs that come with each set. I've attached a link below which shows the spru's you get with the command squad for reference.

Looking at the images for the Elysian drop troop squad i'm guessing there are about 6 different version, then these are used across the full range.

I really don't like the GW Catachan models and would use the legs from forge world as a bases. Then the rest of the model would be a mixture of Fantasy and green stuff (going for a plague/nurgle guard army). I'm kind of hoping if i just use the legs from the kit, i can sell the other parts as bits on Ebay to balance out the expense.

Hope that makes sense.

Many thanks,

Keith

Lookin at my Elysians next to me here from one squad i count about 6-8 varations but thats mixed from 2 packs of the models. I have 2 trooper squads, 1 Lascutter squad, and 1 CCS. There is some nice varations from the CCS and the Lascutter squad has a lot of extras.

Pics: its harder to see in this shot but on my galler you can zoom in and see. (just click the image)

however, dont let leg variations discourage you!!! You can still model them to your hearts content

From my experience different squads have different variants and leg counts. For example my veterans with shotguns came with 6 legs for the 5-man bag and spare heads, but my special weapon squads came with no extra legs but extra guns and torsos.

So I was able to cheat FW a bit and assemble some extra dudes from their kits.

On a side note, I really like the catachan legs and I combine them with Pig Iron heads and cadian torsos and arms to make my Grenadier Veterans. It comes out looking really nice.

Thanks for the reply's.

swampyturtle - Great to have the images as a reference. As you mention, it does look like there are a few more options than i originally thought, though forge world always produce amazing models so i kind should have expected that. Plus like you say there is always the knife and green stuff option.

Joshh - I like the idea of getting a few extra bits in each pack, though this is more from the aspect of extra stuff to sell on. Looking on a few bits sites it does seem possible to at least break even if i keep the legs but sell on the rest. I'm sure when it turns up i would like to keep it all, but having to much forge world in an army makes it just a bit too costly for me. I do like the catachan kit, but just think it is starting to show its age compared to the other ranges they do. I'm looking to use the Empire Flagellant warband torso and arms so that i can sculpt guts falling out and general nurgle stuff on the exposed flesh.

Thanks again for the responses. First post on Dakka, so always great to find an active forum.
