So, as I wrote elsewhere, I'm considering painting up some "spare" marine models that don't fit the "feel" of the Blood Angels (read: tac marines, scouts, heavy weapons-wielding tacs or devastators, drop pods) as members of an allied chapter, called in to provide fire support for the Blood Angels. And, if I get bored, I can always field them as a separate army using the vanilla marines codex. I think it would make for a nice change of pace in terms of both painting and playing. Does anyone know of any chapters that are close allies of the Blood Angels, whose paint schemes are complimentary?

My P&M blog - in which I chronicle the transformation of a battered windfall of models into an awesome addition to my Blood Angels force (hopefully) - can be found here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/431820.page.

Well, you could always paint them as one of their successor chapters, that way you could either use them as Blood Angels or as one of the less Blood Angels - y ones.

The Blood Angels have very close ties with their successor chapters, so you could always just paint some as lamentors or something similar and you can still use the BA codex

or in Armageddon they did fight with the Black templars and Salamanders so you could use them as well.

Currently debating whether to study for my exams or paint some Deathwing

You could always go with Fleshtearers, just to troll other Imperials.

I believe they have fought together with the white scars (the assault on ice planet zoran) against a chaos enemy which led to the capture of an imperator titan i think so you could do white scars and they have an awsome paint scheme and they would stand out from your blood angels.
