It is 1700-1840. The day men fights war with the way gentlemen are supposed to. The day where muzzleloading guns rule the battlefield and not a heavy armor. The day men wears a cabaret outfit to war without fear of getting shot at. The day that troops are led by noblemen and not a studious peasant. The day that longhair man is a norm.
yes it's Baroque era. the conflict includes... Queen Anne's war, 7 years war, American revolution, French Revolution, and life of Napoleon Bonarparte.
Y'all should be aware of its main features. Line infantry with parade outfit, and armed with musket and bayonet is a norm, cavs became focused on manuever and not to do a headon fight. and cannons are usually placed NEXT TO a formation of line infantry.
so what are the recommended RTS/TBS of this setting?
and not the following
- Total War series (Empire and Napoleon)
- War and Peace (?)
- Cossacks series (including American conquest)
- Age of Empires 3
I havent played it but I believe they added things like drummers, engineers that can build temporary fortifications, cannons that can be player operated, things of that nature.

nah! there was a computer game named as such. a continental-wide RTS that almost 'wild'. it was the early 3d RTS. too bad only terrain, ships, and buildings are 3d, all land units are sprite-based mew!
Back in the day when my machine was still running on DOS, Microprose had an awesome RTS game called "Fields of Glory".
You could re-enact famous battles from the Napoleonic Wars, first by setting up your troops and then giving them the appropriate orders. The game supported formations (such as the karee, very usefuly against cavalry) and you could even have infantry bunker down in houses to shoot from the windows. Casualties simply remained on the ground where they fell, for the duration of the entire battle. With the huge amount of troops you were ordering around, this meant that some areas would be littered with bodies, just like in the real thing. Moving and shooting happens slow, which is also realistic, but furthermore serves to give you a sense of the length of such battles and allows you to properly implement or change your strategy based on what is happening. I reckon the pace might put more action-oriented players off, though. As will the (by contemporary standards) crappy graphics. I can only say that I've enjoyed it a great deal back then - it's one of those underrated classics from the great era of X-Com, 1942 Pacific Air War, or Transport Tycoon.
I imagine the troops look like ravers on drugs because the animations are played with what looks like 20x the usual speed. Dunno if this is fixable - running "ancient" games on new PCs always comes with some issues.
Paradox have done a gak-tonne of games from this era. I've never played them because the interface looks scary, but then you've disregarded all the good games in your OP...
