Subject: Draigo & Paladins?

Hi,
I expect to face Draigo and/or Paldins sometime soon, and i have yet to face them, and have no access to the grey knights book.
So I have a few questions:
1. Who is Draigo? What does he do thats so special?
2. What Are Paladins? how do they differ from terminators?
3. How many can i expect to face in 1500/1750? (total unit points?)
4. What special rules do they have i need to look out for?
5. How do i stop them?, i've heard they are good. Only Chaos and Orks survived my e-bay clearout, which units are effective against them? (not tailoring just wondering)
Thanks.

1. Draigo is the head of the GK. Means he's even more badass than his fellow buddies. Like every grand master, he can make units scouting (think scouting MC, tanks, whatever) or scoring (think 40' teleporting DK that can score). And he's got a stormshield.
2. They are like terminators. With 2 wounds. And all are psykers. With nifty powers. And force wepons that come in various shapes (+2I, x2S, +1 to your ++ in CC...).
3. 15 bodies and 3 or 4 unit points maybe.
3. (you have two 3s in your questions?) Wound allocation. You need to dish out loads of wounds before the first paladin falls. They are just a giant very resilient deathstar. Watch out for the libby also. Most draigo list includes one.
5. Anti psy + power weapons. Anything that bypass their 2+. Anything that is S8 or more (ID). For example, as Chaos, Vindicator is a good choice (Bypasses 2+ and ID on a large blast).

1. Main special things about draigo: He has EW and 3++. Also hits S10 against daemons / psykers.
2. As Seb said, they have 2 wounds and WS5. Paladin units can use one psychic power per turn. They can choose from S5 blast, +1S in CC or activating force weapons.
3. Somewhere around 10-15 Paladins, depending on how much support he takes. 10+5 is very likely in 1750.
4. Wound allocation. If he has librarian, he will have Sanctuary which makes charging units to treat all terrain (inc clear) as both difficult and dangerous.
5. Paladins aren't fearless, so can be tank shocked off table. Dropping paladins via massed fire is very hard, but S8 AP2 weapons will get rid of them fast.

The problem with Orks vs Paladins is you are almost depending on your Power Klaws, and losing boat loads of models to fearless saves. Paladins tend to have something to crack Armor 11 kans. Armor 12 dreads can be more survivable, but usually something in the squad that can crack you. If you can lay on the wounds when they land with some shooting, you can get those initial wounds on there which is very very important. Rockets are good, but you don't reliably get through their 2+ save, but when you do, you flatten 1.
With orks its important not to allow yourself to be multi assaulted. Its even advisable to sometimes shoot and let your self be assaulted, so that way you loss your 1 mob, but you prevent them from assaulting 2. Vs paladins as an Ork player you have to out play them with mobility and mission, not by diving into combat. Often its about slowing the number of assaults. Figure a 5-7 turn random game length turn. If you can slow the assaults and sacrifice the right units, and not get multi assaulted, you can volume of fire them down.

Draigo => Special character that makes paladins troops.
Paladins => Terminators with 2 wounds and enough wargear to become Wound Allocated. Think Nobs with 2+/5++ saves and really good guns.
The paladins are great, but they only have a 5++ INV save naturally. It can be better in combat (some models can get a 4++ and one can get a 2++)
If the paladins are ever out of cover, they are very vulnerable to S8 shooting (instant death) and AP 2 shooting. If you can get something that has both, then you can deal a lot of damage to the Paladins quickly.
For Orks this basically means Rokkits are decent but not great, and KMB's are a lot better. Killa Kans are still the best way to get the KMB.
In Combat, the Paladins all have force weapons, so Nobs are not the best answer. Boys however are cheap and the Nob with the Claw in the unit will do a lot of work. A unit of 20 boys is about the same number of points as 3 paladins. If you have a lot of boys, and the PK can pick a few here or there, then you can come out ahead. You may need to throw 2-3 boy units at the paladins at a time if they are running a "Warding Stave" (gives one paladin a 2++ in combat ONLY). You want to deal a lot of PK wounds all at once, so the GK player can't just put them all on the stave.
================
For CSM, vindicators are a great option (ignores armor and causes instant death)
Obliterators are very good as well, as are melta-guns.

Abaddon is a very good choice vs. GK (first hand experience), idealy hidden in a MoT terminators unit, idealy all champs with a single LC. But that is a 600 point unit, without a clean delivery method.
