Playtested against DEs,Dwarves and Skaven and seems to be viable I am just trying to get away from my usual big block of spearmen for core and max elites plus life list.

I like it, it is nice to see something different with the High Elves. Couple of questions I do have however.

Level 1 Metal Mage, why have you included this guy and why metal? Is he simply a Scroll Caddy and hoping to get the 5+ Scaly Skin spell off for 3+ AS Elves? I would have thought having a Beast Mage for Wilform to give S4 T4 Archers would be of more use.

21 Archers bunker - All characters in here or are they spread thinner? also what formation are you going to run them? Why not drop this unit size a little for watchtower otherwise it'll be the 10 man unit instead

Swordmasters - Why 20? I would have thought that 2 x 10 would have been better as then everything gets to attack and makes the units look less of a threat to unsuspecting enemies and makes them easier to hide behind archers

Nice to see Bolt Throwers in a list at long last, I really do like them.

I hate Eagles, they pop my Manglers and are cheaper then them too.

The level mage is in the list just to get a dispel scroll and take the lore of metal sig spell for dealing with Hydas and stop PoK drealords from ruining my day.

The archers are not the bunker the SMs are. The archers deploy 11.5 inches up and the combat units sit behind them so when the enemy closes I just double flee charges with the archer and the bounce thru my own units thus the enemy overuns into my killy elite blocks (my wizards have usually bailed at this point) or counter charge on my own turn.

Also a perk of the list is because of ASF I can mindrazor an archer block and make the enemy not want to charge it or atleast take alot of wounds of an attacking unit.

As for 20 SMs I dont like MSU units of T3 5+ save models that cost 15 points each.

The eagle are actaully there to give me more chaff drops and to cover my deployment zone so shades cant deploy behind me.and ofcourse keep the enem at arms length for another turn.

I agree about bolt throwers they are over costed but sometimes you just gotta pay the points if you need a certain capability and without them the list simply does not work.

Seeing as archers shouldn't be in combat and longbows are strength 3, Wildform would be more useful on the white lions/Swordsmasters.

I do like the list. Although I am not a fan of archers, I think you have taken enough of them to make a difference.

Bolt throwers can be useful, but as you have already pointed out they are too many points, and I am not too sure about what choice you have in the rare section for high elves. IIRC it is just eagles and bolt throwers. Which can justify taking them as once you have taken eagles you have no other rare choices. And they can shoot stuff on turn 1.

I thought that longbow strength was as user? Anyways the strength wasn't really the issue more of the T buff that wildform gives that I have used it for in the past. I was thinking along the lines of impact hits (which is how I circum navigate ASF) impact hits against T4 is a lot less then T3 obviously.

HE Rare is Eagles and Bolt Throwers so yeah great deal of choice.

So essentially you checkerboard your deployment to a certain extent. Fair enough, not a tactic that I'd considered with HE.

I love me some MSU elves but if it don't work for you it don't work, no point trying to press the issue.

How did you fare against Dwarfs out of interest?

Easy game to be honest I used my shooting to remove both of his organ guns and after that I just ran at him with my whitelions and cleaned up his big blocks while the eagles double teamed his cannons etc.

While I wouldn't personally play this list(I'm not too fond of HE archers and RBT's after using DE crossbowmen), I would love to see a video battle report of this list, or at least watch it in action.

I do however like the idea of running elites behind archers who flee. I may have to use that.

I like the idea of the army. Have you considering taking High lore to get Curse of Arrow attraction. Could really have some enhancements to the effectiveness of your ranged.

I may try to start doing batreps I have a game tonight against DEs so I will see what I can do.

Curse of arrow attraction only adds 2.5 wounds (before armor saves) to a volly of 20 arrows at long range so alot of the time I find wither to be a better use of dice. However It does help the RBTs overall I cant really fit another mage in and to reliably get it with my current list I would need to swap lores on the level 1 and drop the scroll for the staff of hoath.

And playing certain armies without a scroll is just to scary
