Me and my mate are playing in a small friendly 1K doubles league soon. So far we've been thinking Necron/shooty templar are a good combination, he's a lot better at this stuff than me though, but it became immediately obvious that necrons multipurpose torrents and fast skimmers mixed really well with BT light armor and missiles. Especially with CCB's ignoring cover and pulses causing havoc for enemy missile spam.

Oh, and there is very little special rules sharing allowed as our TO has explained, I think there were a couple loop holes though, born of fun, and weird situations. I haven't played around his area for ages, but I remember it was really competitive. He says he sees a lot of both styles of BA (scariest notion to me), Henchmen, melta spam marines (sw/nurgle/salamanders) and a smattering of IG, venom spam, scarab farm and orks. These guys are all a little older so I'm sure another army might get dusted off because warwalkers seem much better at 1k or some such nastiness.

I think the missions are supposed to be mainly standard, but with a couple pretty normal homebrew that I haven't seen and he hasn't felt fit to warm me about. I feel pretty confident in our mobility and scoring unit count though, even if mine are a little flimsy.

Now my pal's got a lot of Marine stuff and we are allowed to do some counts as (you may have picked that up from my scythe spam) so we have a lot of room to mix it up. I'm trying to figure out how we can make the most out of his MSU shooting and high concentrations of high strength weapons and low AV. We both would rather he have something of a countercharge element, though the way it's looking right now like that would compromise the efficiency of the stuff we have going on. He's not dead set on his BT either, but I'm not sure how I would play around a wych cult or Tervigon spam.

I'm really liking the Low Av Saturation from BT list 1. I get the feeling we would have little trouble popping transports and then delivering a couple blasts markers and destructor rounds on their contents. The CCB would be boosting ahead to provide cover saves and acting as silver bullets for scary junk while the rhinos stay sturdy and create uncomfortable lanes of shooting. I can't help but feel like we'd be vulnerable to weird deployment and we are wasting points on those preferred enemy rolls though.

Really I'm more worried about my end of the bargain right now. I hate running too many warrior squads (especially when they aren't contributing much), though I am loving having 2 barges and 2 pulseteks at this point level.

I would like to have more reliable torrenting. I've found that destructors require a lot of focus fire to eliminate a squad and that you don't want your scythes or msu squads exposed without killing something outright.

Also do you guys think most of the BT should have bolters or Bolt Pistol and Close combat weapon? He seems to think it's better to just hide a bunch of heavy weapons in a coating of blades underneath a metal box, but that sounds weird to me. I'm also a little worried about FNP marines. I really don't think we have enough missiles to take down a lot of BA or Deathguard and lord knows tesla hasn't been working. At this point I'm also feeling a little terrified of hydra flack tanks, but my pal assures me that if we cover ourselves with the CCB and head straight for them, we will be fine.

Any advice on my list or our plan would be awesome, I tend to let him lead, but I'd be thrilled if I could bring more to the table.

It's just a show, I should really just relax... It's just a show, I should really just relax... It's just a show, I should really just relax... It's just a show, I should really just relax...
