Not really sure what forum this should of gone in so this looks good. Sorry to those of you who thought this was a rumor thread but I am not one for rumors and even if I was I am not one who would have access to such info. ANYWAYS.

I am just curious if there is anything worth taking in the Dark Angels Codex other than Deathwing and the things associated with them (i.e. - Dreads, Land Raiders, Ravenwing squad)

I am currently working on a fluffy custom Deathwing army but I am looking for other options to add to the Deathwing base to make the book competitive at least from a friendly game standpoint. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks.

Not really, everything's either got bad options, costed badly, or can be done far more efficiently anywhere else.

Deathwing and Ravenwing are the only reasons to take the codex. Everything outside of them are overpriced and underpowered.

There's three reasons to get a Dark Angels army:

1) You like them as an army and want to play them, despite them not being "top tier".

2) You want to use a combination of fast (Ravenwing) and hard-hitting (Deathwing) units as part of a hammer-and-anvil approach to your games. And, although there are more efficient armies at this, you want to get your opponent off-guard by using an army they aren't as familiar with.

3) You have made sufficient sacrifices to the machine spirit to ensure the next codex will be out soon and will be as OP as GK, and you want to buy the models now before the price increase.

Just use the Space Marines codex and paint them up as Dark Angels. I've used my old DA with the Space Marines codex and never got any complaints.

QFT. And if you wanna play with DA rules, once in a while, nobody's going to throw a hissy fit, I don't think. Not anyone worth playing with, at any rate.

I thought of doing that myself, for the Greenwing portion I have, but I simply continue on with my deathwing, generally because I find it a bit more fun to continue on with my TEQ army..

Though I'm really tempted to go with space marine codex and go with a "Sword of Secrets" (Relic blade) and storm shield knight chapter master.

I truly enjoy the deathwing concept so will definitely be finishing the army and the small ravenwing support I have for it. Maybe after that I will pick up a vanilla marines dex and just start amassing troops painted in a dark angels scheme in hopes of a worthy codex being release within my lifetime.

I guess my reason is liking the models, fluff, and not being one for top tier armies then.

Then Horus comes across the lone grot, somehow managing to kill the Emperor, and punts it into space.

if rumours are to be belived, the 6th ed starter ki will be DA vs Chaos, whcih suggests a new DA chaos is not too far off.

As states, start building your army up now using SM models and convrsions. that way whent he new models come out at an inflated price, you will already have the core army good to go.

Despite what they do to the fluff i think you there are certain units that will be a safe bet (marines, rhinos, bikes, terminators)

Yeah Dark Angels are still a Space Marine chapter so you can use C:SM rules if you like.
Plus they look badass

Yea that seems to be the plan. I have heard the rumors of the codex but as stated above I am not one for rumors. I will believe it when I see it. However there is hope for the future then perhaps!
